Good morning!
Joe, hope you have a good day. Nice to have a show to look forward to.
That heatwave up north is crazy. It's only going to be in the low 80's here in Florida.
Dianah, it's good for the brain to learn new things. ?
Stars, I understood what you were saying on the political side of things. I agree that was a lame thing to say.
It's starting to be shown that diabetics can eat whole fruit, orange juice no, but whole oranges are okay. Getting a meat and potatoes man to eat high potassium foods might be a challenge. Restaurant food is a horrible offender in the high sodium side of things. Although apparently some people are affected by sodium and others not so much.
I love low sodium V-8 and you reminded me I have some in my cupboard. I'll get it when it's on sale. I tend to eat on the lower end of sodium since my blood pressure runs on the borderline side. Some things were an acquired taste, particularly tomato products like salt-free diced tomatoes, salt-free spaghetti sauce, or V-8. My love of Asian food get me though as soy sauce and other sauces are usually high in sodium.
Not much on the agenda. It's wash the sheets day. One day off. I'm struggling to not get depressed over the expensive dental work, the home owners insurance hassle, the stock market, and the general state of the world but I'll admit my tendency towards depression is triggered.
Hope everyone has a great day.
We're safe; the storms aren't big and aren't hanging around. I liked the image of the forecasters trying to 'whack-a-mole'; it seems that by the time they can say where a storm is, it has gone on to somewhere else!
But, I am ticked off! The Braves and Padres are playing tonight, but it will only be aired on Apple+. We aren't going to sign up on any more channels, "plus" or not. It can get pretty expensive. Might be able to see tomorrow's game of Fox Sports channel, and for Sunday's game, I'm not exactly sure, but we might be able to see it on NBC...otherwise it is on Apple+/NBC+ or streaming online somewhere. Ppfftt!
How can you keep Nannie happy without a baseball game being available? Well, THIS, maybe: The downed tree-trunk has finally been 'attacked' --- sawed into big round pieces of trunk, about 16-22 inches 'tall', but those pieces are not yet split. Maybe the guy will come back by again soon and split and load the logs. One can only hope.
Thank you all for listing potassium-laden foods hubby can try...he does like broccoli, sweet potatoes (mashed), and several of the other things mentioned, which I will be writing down in my brain shortly. Do you think those little seedless tangerine/tangelos have potassium in 'em? I suppose I could be NOT lazy and look it up myself....
Joe, hubby sets the AC for 66, AND has his ceiling fan on high, and he still c/o being hot. I got him a pillow that is supposed to, somehow, provide or allow for cooler sleeping, but he says he can't tell much when using it. He needs a portable AC suit! And he needs a new box-Spring and mattress; I do not understand HOW he can sleep on the bed as it is. IMHO his mattress is tooooo VERY saggy! Maybe someone has invented a mattress that shoots cool air up through little holes in it?
Tweety, I can try the low-sodium V-8 on him; who knows, he may find it quite tolerable. But he is very into various sauces (I do get him low sodium/no- sugar-added ketchup) like, yes, soy sauce, honey-mustard , malt-vinegar, Mazeretti's coleslaw dsg, Teriyaki, and a bunch of etceteras. LOTS and lots of fried foods. ( OY! He'd give a dietician an ulcer! )
Had to put the laptop down for a while and got distracted...now it is later and we are watching Dateline about a murder that occurred in Asheville. Have to see if there is anybody in any of the scenes (Law Officers or nurses/Doctors) who we might recognize. So far, nobody we know...
Anyway I am going to sign off for now. "See" you tomorrow!
Quiet day here. I took oldest ds to get some labwork done, and then we stopped by a BBQ place and I got some meals for the next couple days, as did he. Had a nice chat in the traveling. He is doing well.
I jammed with dh at the online jam today, practicing technique. Tonight we are re-watching an episode or two of The Chosen. What a great series. Each time I watch or re-watch an episode, I am in awe of the writing, the acting, the vision, the depiction, in telling these stories. Truly.
Have a good evening
Hullo. I had my cardiology appointment, which I thought was to do a pacemaker download and adjustment, but it turned into more. Because I am in an irregular rhythm most of the time, she wants to do a cardio version, and possibly another ablation. And, she finally saw the genetic testing results and wants to upgrade my pacer to a pacer/defibrillator. Ugh, there goes my Summer. We talked about how painful it was last time, and also I reminded her that veins were the wires go is scarred up and she may not be able to pass a defibrillator wire through. So she might have to put the new unit on the other side, so I have the chance to have 2 incisions. Ugh. Anyway, I got a chest X-ray today to check the wires and they will call to schedule the cardioversion. I am glad that she took the time to answer my questions and listen to my concerns. The old office would have just blown me off. Youngest ds went with me and we had a nice lunch. I had a polenta dish and he had caprese mac n cheese. My weight was up 10 lbs, so I need to buckle down and cut the carbs. But my bp was good, for once.
Weather still cool, but sunny. I'll take it.

NJ22 hope your DH does not have Covid
Ado hope today is less exciting
Stars I agree that orange juice could be a good alternative to bananas. Dried fruit has lot of potassium too
Tweety sorry to hear about the crown, I hope the insurance doesn't prove too bad
Was a fairly quiet morning, but a very busy afternoon at work. I did feel it was a productive day and got some problems solved that had been outstanding
Other than that a quiet day. Cleaned the oven and exercised
Might have to have the fan on in addition to the AC, have noticed it's taking me a bit longer to fall asleep and I wake up a bit sooner, might be the heat
Another quiet night, since J and I are going to a musical on Sun he wants to stay in until then, so his allergies don't get too bad
Going to be another hot day, up to 90, though will cool off by the weekend
