Dianah I hope things cool down there, it seems like it's been over a 100 for weeks now

NJ22 I'm glad they found her cancer was localized

Tweety it would have been better if they had asked

Work was pretty good yesterday, had some time at the end of the day to get stuff for today done.  Had counseling over lunch, talked about the kind of blah reunion and how that might be addressed.

After work ran an errand or two, and was texting to get the 3rd date set up.  Looks like we'll be doing the Grant Park Concert this Saturday, in the city but free.  We'll both take the train in to avoid traffic

Today should be fairly ordinary, glad that it's Friday already.  Will be a bit warmer, in the mid 80s

Huh, whaddya know; I forgot to post yesterday! Chatty CG was here keeping Nannie occupied. I went to the post office and grocery store, then came home and sat up in my room sorting tons of papers into piles to toss, recycle, and/or shred....and I actually got it done! How much was there? All I can say is it took me two hours! Feels good to have gotten that taken care of.

So, this morning I thought it was Sunday, when SiL said she would come over to get Nannie up and dressed, and then cut my hair for me. I thought it was 5 min. before noon, and leaped out of bed ---- then realized it wasn't noon (it was 10:55 AM)  and it isn't Sunday, so I went back to bed to see if I could sleep another hour. Momo woke me up barking and when I got up to see why she was barking, and there was Nannie who had come up the 9 stairs from the den, all by herself,  and was standing at the bottom of the 6 stairs that go up to the 3rd floor level, ie to my bedroom!

I practically freaked out! She hasn't ascended the stairs all by herself in a LONG time....like, last time was prolly 3 years ago! I really didn't think she was strong enough to deal with all those stairs, but she sure fooled me! I am definitely going to have to start getting up a little earlier, if she is getting antsy enough to think she is "normal" again and starts pulling this kind of (censored) nonsense more often. Let me just say a BIG FAT "OY!"  I am not liking this return of Nannie's wandering activities again, not one tiny bit!

So, today's temp will be 83 degrees with a feels-like of 93 degrees, 85% humidity and 61% chance of rain....which has already started. I haven't got anything pressing to do outside anyway, so who cares about the weather?

Nannie is "sleeping", kind of.....she is talking to someone, having a regular conversation from the sound of things, though her words aren't clear enough to know what the talk is about. She sure did have a lot to say, whatever it was.

I just now slid the small pillow behind her neck so her head doesn't land on her right shoulder. Then I put a blanket over her so she will stay warm, and then maybe she will fall more deeply asleep! That is a nice thing to do, but also will accomplish this as a method to my madness!

I have been contemplating moving some of my bedroom furniture around. It would require cleaning off the top of and taking the drawers out of the dresser so I can slide it to it's potential new position, and if you multiply that by four other pieces of furniture, it's quite an undertaking. I haven't quite decided to do it yet, as I am having a hard time picturing how one of the things would look where I was planning to place it....and I also think I may need to eliminate one of the pieces of furniture (ie put it back in my old room) so it looks a little less crowded in my current room. I've been living in the smallest rooms of either house we lived in, for, oh, maybe, um, 18+ or more years, and it is an epiphany to realize I don't have to smash everything of mine altogether in one room any more. Hmmmm. Will let you know after I have decided and started in on it.

Anyway, signing off now, as I want to go up to the kitchen to see what I feel like noshing on. Three PM is my breakfast/lunch time.....oh, duh, that's called brunch!

Tawk whichoo'in's laydah!

Hi. I went with big sis to see the radiation oncologist today. The plan is 33 treatments, daily, 5 days a week. She will get a scan next week, then it takes about 2 weeks to set everything up to start. She sees the medical oncologist next Wednesday, but I will be gone to Oregon. The radiologist said to expect weekly infusions. He also asked if she had quit smoking (hah) and what were her plans. I will be very surprised if she does quit. She was going over to our other sister's house (the one with heart problems) to tell her about the dx and treatment.

I stopped by the drugstore to get some travel supplies and fruit fly traps. Then I stopped by the demo garden to water some new plants, and this crazy lady had one of the hoses and was just spraying everything, including "my" roses. I told her that wasn't necessary because everything was on a water system. She was from the desert and said the plants looked dry and needed water. Ack. She knocked several blooms off the roses, and we are trying to keep the foliage dry to decrease disease. Maybe I was too nice.

Weather is nice, but I am feeling rather down. Looking forward to watching the Olympics.

G'day!

Stars, who are you fooling that you're going to start getting up earlier?  No us.  LOL

J22, understand feeling down.  I'll have to catch the highlights of the Olympics.

Work was okay.  I was supposed to be a "free charge" but wound up with two patients to staff the other side.  They had an easy day over there.  I send out an email daily when I'm in charge to management and they ask "who did you counsel about not doing bedside report" and I tattled on the night charge nurse who has been told many times to do bedside shift change report.  He's still old school and does report at the desk then goes into the room to say hello, he doesn't round on patients, he doesn't send out the email, and he doesn't do any audits.  Not sure what he does but word is not much.  He was included in the email because you have to email it to the night charge and the next day's charge in addition to management.  So I called him out.  Humph...

My new office desk and book cases are sitting in boxes in the living room.  I guess they won't assemble themselves.

I got a $25 refund from my facility because I paid too much for something.  Recently I went for a routine visit and an ultrasound.

Off this weekend.  Not much going on.

Yet again today a patient showed up for a blood transfusion that obviously *someone* knew about, but not the floor nurses. They had 5 patients, 2 nurses, and the fantastic aide but once again thought I should step in to do the transfusion. The nursing supervisor told them that I could *help* (verify and sign off, etc.) but that they are capable of doing it. They weren't super happy. One said, "I have things to do." Well, I had things to do, too! I'm traveling next week. And after the first 15 minutes of a transfusion there's not that much required. Sorry. Rant over.

Hubs almost got taken in by a telephone scammer today. He feels stupid but also angry.

My poor garden needed water before I got to it. It has been pretty dry even with somewhat lower temps and the temps will be going back up. But I'll be cool in Canada next week! One of the guys will have to make sure the plants get water. The okra is looking good but the poor tomato plants are droopy.

I hope your date goes well, Joe.
