Good Morning~
I am lagging a little bit, but I still plan on "The Search For The SSA office". It is 10:10 AM and Momo has had her breakfast. Since the air in the house is pretty chilly, I turned on the electric fireplace. Having a cup of coffee, and then plan on heading out. At least I am not going to be driving around in the middle of the morning commuters.
Wish me luck!
Hallelujah, AMEN! I was out for 1 + 1/2 hrs, and drove up and down the Avenue which it was said the SSA office was off of....finally ended up going to the Post Office and threw myself at the mercy of one of the clerks there; she gave me GOOD directions and I FOUND the Street it was on. Found the drop-box inside to the left of the entrance, and deposited my info in a sealed envelope like I was 'posta, and breathed a deep sigh of relief.
Momo yelled at me again for leaving her behind, but it can't be helped; I gave her a lot of love and kisses and she eventually calmed down. Now *I* am decompressing, as well. Soon it is time to wake up the Nannie person.
There's a good possibility I am going to empty the contents of the fridge, and clean up that HORRID mess in there!
Happy Groundhog's Day! I haven't checked to see what the official groundhog forecast is, but here it definitely feels Spring-like at the moment. Expected to be 67 degrees, breezy, with scattered light showers. Reminds me of the George Carlin (?) bit about "darkness tonight, giving way to widely scattered light in the morning"... or something like that.
I've seen a couple of robins, so Spring has to be just around the corner, right? Not that we had much of a Winter. And I'm perfectly fine with that!!
Saw the dentist Wednesday morning and will need a crown where an old amalgam filling has decay under it. It seems my dentist's office has a new doctor, and I liked her from what little interaction we had. She will be doing my crown on the 13th.
Hope you have an uneventful trip home, Tweety.
Stars, hooray for getting the SSA paperwork turned in!
Joe, it seems we have a few of those places we have always driven past that would be interesting to stop and explore. Hoping we still have the energy/desire to do that once we're no longer responsible for Gma. Hubs is going to assist with his friend's sailing class tomorrow and next Saturday in the morning in OKC. The Gma sitter is coming around 9 am, well before Gma is usually up. I'm trying to figure out where I fit in... can I just sleep in and go about my day? Twin B will be sleeping. He and Twin A want to do some things to give Darby some really good days before ... we say goodbye ... and one of those things is a visit to the dog park in Norman. Not sure how much that will mean to Darby now. But the dogs always did get really excited about going there. They didn't really socialize with other dogs, but the freedom of being outdoors without a leash and allowed to explore is nice.
I also want to make a tres leches cake this weekend. I chose Virginia Woolf's To the Lighthouse for the book club and will start reading that. And try to squeeze in some studying for the CIC exam.
Hello all!
Joe, Rockford sounds like it wants to be explored!
Ado, UGH to the upcoming dental work! Good you like the dentist! I hope you slept in.
No Stars, YAY for finding the SSA office, and dropping off your paperwork! Here's to an uneventful day (other than Nannie telling stories).
The official groundhog prediction is for an early Spring, as Punsxatawny Phil didn't see his shadow today! We'll see how that goes...
Toby the manx cat is on my shoulders, as always, while I'm working on the computer. ? He just plops himself down and expects petting. He is even more attentive if I have a piece of cheese to nibble on... He LOVES cheese!
Last night I cleaned out one shelf in the kitchen pantry. I had cleaned a small puddle from under the pantry, and when I saw the puddle again I decided this was no cat vomit. Well, I found two six-packs of Vernor's ginger ale, and some loose cans, some of them slowly leaking out. I guess the aluminum fatigues and will leak, after awhile. Dh was on a Vernor's kick some years ago, and I guess I stocked up then forgot about them. I need to clean other shelves in the pantry too, and discard outdated items, but as the trash bag I used for discards was VERY heavy, I will do that another day.
It rained most of yesterday. We have a break in the rain today and tomorrow, and then four days of rain predicted, starting Sunday. I need to go out for a couple errands, then will be in.
Have a good day, and a good evening (yay Friday)!
I meant to say "Happy Groundhog Day", but I didn't want to jinx myself into a repeat of the two days prior when I tried to find the SSA office! I picture Bill Murray stepping knee deep into a water-filled pothole, and also socking that obnoxious guy in the face. Fortunately there were no puddles at the SSA parking lot, and nobody spoke to me. Lucky for them! And lucky for me, too, because I would've punched with my right hand, and that's hand with the swollen arthritic knuckles; it woulda hurt me more than it hurt them!
Yup, I heard the Spring will come early this year, but I knew that yesterday without "Phil's" prediction, because there were robins EVERYWHERE in the front and back yards. I'm not sure what Phil had predicted in 1983 or '84.....but in April of one of those years, we had 18 inches of snow in Asheville. I had my big "grandmother's-living room" of a Chevy, and it did not care one single bit about the snow. I never got stuck in that car, in a snowy place I couldn't rock my way out of (forward-reverse-forward-reverse) and it seldom slipped or slid, either. It was a monster, but it was a good'un !
That (2nd) big storm that's coming in from the west coast is going to turn North when it hits the West TN mountains. We MAY get some light rain from the tail-end range of that storm, but nothing "big" here. This area seems to be protected as if we are under a bell-jar. Our weather guy said we were going to have a beautiful sunny weekend and I believe Tuesday is the day for light, scattered showers; then sunny for the remainder of the week.
The daffodils are up, with their shiny yellow faces aimed at the sunshine. Nannie is beginning her usual nap, and the laundry (Nannie was soaked again this morning) is on the 2nd spin cycle, so I will go upstairs in a few minutes and start in on the fridge. (ugh.) I'd just as soon pitch the whole fridge out and get a new one, just because of the mess! But I ain't got the funds to do that, and anyway, it is still Nannie's house, and therefore it is HER fridge! Maybe the fridge will die before she does and we'll have to get a new one. (What a TERRIBLE thing to say!)
Alrighty then....Up and Awaaaaay, Junior Birdmen!
Pin a rose on my nose! I spit on my hands, made a couple of fists, snorted with determination, and took the fridge on today! It took me almost 2 hours to scrub off the up-to-12-months-old dried spills inside and on the outside, and empty it out. I also washed off the condiment bottles, washed and rearranged the shelves and drawers, threw out the out-dated stuff, etc. WHEW! It was quite tiring! One of my pet peeves is condiment bottles with gunked up mouths, necks, and caps, so I felt good to get that done! I didn't rearrange the freezer; I prolly will do that at another time. But I can't believe how good it looks inside the fridge; now I don't have to groan when I open the door and see all the messiness!
Then I remembered I had started Nannie's laundry, and there were some towels in the dryer to fold, and some sheets and a blanket in the washer that needed to go into the dryer. And there's more dishes to wash up, but not as many as yesterday. I finally made my bed at 5:30 PM. I guess I ought to wake up Nannie and see about preparing her supper.
That's my report of my days activities, and by golly, that's ENOUGH!
I haven't accomplished nearly as much as you all. I did get the bedroom carpet shampooed. dh was going to do it last night, but his gut has been bothering him, so I told him I would do it this morning, when there was more light. It took me longer than expected, but it's done, and should be dry when the new bed is delivered tomorrow. I have gathered together yet another box of stuff for the thrift store. And I cleaned up the kitchen. I am going to meet youngest ds for dinner. He has to take a bus of kids to some sports event, and we'll meet at a diner close by, while he's waiting for the kids to finish sporting. Basketball, I think.
Tomorrow, after the bed delivery we are going to Seattle to see Randy Rainbow, and I've booked a night in a hotel, so we don't have to drive back. I hope dh is feeling up to it. He is so vague about symptoms, but no fever. "My kidney hurts through to my stomach." Hm, UTI, diverticulitis, constipation, gastritis, pancreatitis? But he felt better this am, so of course, he's not going to call the doc. Sigh. He's not sure if he's constipated, or nauseous, or if omeprazole helped, or if he's hungry.
The sun came out today, woo hoo.
I hate gunky condiment bottles, too. And I hate it when containers with 2 teaspoons of something left are returned to the fridge.
I wish I had a fenced dog park near here. I would love to let the doggos run, but the little one is so impulsive she would take off and ignore me.

Dianah in this case for this particular IL employer I will handle all of their workers compensation cases. To make room my MI and MA cases were shifted to other case managers
NJ22 glad that your sister was discharged and is feeling better
Stars here's hoping you get everything planned done
Tweety glad the trip went well
Work was not bad yesterday, got all the new cases, but so far only 1 needs anything done with it urgently. Though I only have reviewed about a quarter of them. Hope to get most of them reviewed today, should otherwise be quiet at work, not much else planned. Unless a coworker who is out has a lot to do
Had counseling over lunch, which went well, although it does cut lunch very short. Didn't do much after work except exercise and run an errand to two
Nothing much planned for today either, except exercise. And returning a book, "Same Bed, Different Dreams". Was recommended by NPR but when I started reading it realized it wasn't to my taste
Encouraged by the counselor, I'm planning to skip Madison this year and go to Rockford instead, which is on the way. There is a state park there I've passed many times on the way to Madison but never visited. Rockford is a big enough city to have gardens, museums, etc... so there will be other things to do there
Going to be a little cooler today, in the low 40s. Hopefully the sun will show up again, thankfully the rain is still holding off
