Twin B and I did the band concert thing last night. Hubs got the Gma-sitter hired so he and Twin A could attend. Then, since we'd all missed a meal (not that it would hurt any of us) we got some chicken wings to feast on at home.
Sunny and clear with a high near 60 today but by Sunday it will be a high of 35. Then pop back up to the 50s-60s. Just enough to make it feel like Christmas?
I'm determined to put up the tree this weekend. Hubs did a lot of cleaning yesterday before the Gma-sitter came over so that should help. When stepson gets here we will have to get him a motel room and let him use one of the cars.
Speaking of cars, we got the convertible back yesterday.
Have a good weekend!
No, no help last night, and this afternoon I had to go pick up Nannie because SiL is at work and BiL said he was "nowhere near there."
I got a text from SiL just now and she said she was on supper break and just got the message I sent her. I texted back, "No worries,I got her home, and I will put her to bed tonight." So she just texted me back and said "Okay".
Go team. And I don't mean that as a cheer. Go team, far, far away! Who needs ya?
What I want to know is when I left to get Nannie, WHO came by and turned on the Christmas tree lights? I sure didn't do it!
Maybe I ought to go take 1/2 of a Xanax so I don't implode tonight.
Hello all!
I have fingers crossed too, Joe, that dh's watch is fix-able!
Ado, glad you got the car back, and that you were able to attend the concert. Little things make it seem like Christmas, eh?
Now, 35 degrees out WOULD feel like Christmas to me! Nope! It's 76 degrees and clear out. Forecast is for 68 degrees and rainy on Christmas Day; we'll see if the weather cooperates with the forecasters!
Tomorrow we need to be in Oak Glen at the residence by 9am, dressed in our Sunday-best, to present the music. Dh will set up the sound system (it's all loaded into the car right now -- by dh, the Master Packer!) and the other band members will arrive a bit later. Program starts at 10:30, followed by potluck. I made a Mediterranean-style salad, it is marinating in the fridge now. Raw cauliflower pieces (1/2 a cauli), halved cherry tomatoes (10-12), 1/2 chopped bell pepper, 1/3 chopped English cucumber, one chopped avocado, plus one tall jar marinated artichoke hearts (I cut the pieces up, they are too big straight from the jar) AND their juice, plus juice of one lemon and, say, half the can of med. black olives and 1/2 the jar of pimiento green olives. I have always liked this salad, and it's easy to make.
I just finished doing a search of the history of the songs we'll be doing. I may not use the history on each-and-every song, but I like to have the info handy. Dh and I will practice together a little later. I do still need to make more soup for us. I think I will have time to squeeze that in.
Have a good evening and weekend!
Dianah, you are so organized. I am sure your efforts will be much appreciated.
Joe, you deserve a quiet Friday to end the week. I actually wish we were a little cooler, so that the mountain snow would stay put.
Stars, it is hard for me to wrap my head around your in-laws actions. I wish an uneventful recovery for you and your eyes(s). And good heavens, if Ms. Nannie goes down, you must call the emts.
I drove down to the river this morning. The river crested at 10 pm, at 22 1/2 feet (11 feet is normal). There is some flooding, but mostly on farmland. But the towns east of us got hit hard. And south of us, the highways that cross the mountain passes are severely damaged. But I don't think there has been any loss of life, thanks to plenty of warnings, I think.
I watched the new Knives Out movie this afternoon. I do agree with many critics, that it was the best one so far.
In the above picture of the river, the leafless tree in the foreground is the far edge of the river. Behind it you can see a little white spot. That is about 300 yards away, in a parking lot for the park, telling cars there is no parking over night.
The picture below is looking across the river, to a partially flooded field. Again, the edge of the trees mark the river bank, with the water usually 8-10 feet below the base of the trees.
Gosh that salad sounds scrumptious, dianah! I'm going to have to write it out on PAPER, or I will somehow end up losing the post even it will stay right where it is now. I'd forget the day or date and be unable to track it down! I'm just a paper-and-pen kind of person. And yes I do sometimes lose a piece of paper with info on it, but since they are all put in some box in my collections of boxes of snippets, I would eventually come across it again.
I think it is my iL's LACK of action that blows me away, like, I mean if SiL ends up saying "I'm so sorry" to me, part of me will be somewhat gracious and shrug, while part of me will want to SNORT and say, "Yeah, 'cause we are FAMILY and on the same team take care of each other, and have each other backs." It makes me mutter right now, but I forsee the day when I say, "Hah." BUT FIRST I have to get BiL to write a check for the lawyer from Nannie's stash, so I can change my will ASAP!
Nannie's bed had been made up, and just before we went in there, I drew the top covers down or aside, like a post-op bed ready to transfer a person from a gurney onto their bed. It's a tidy fold if you do it right. But the first thing Nannie said was that it was was "a mess" and "Not fit to get into". I muttered she was just going to have to sleep in it anyway and suffer the imperfection. She said she was sick of this, so I said I was too, so we were even. Then as I left the room I said as I always do, "I hope you sleep well; good night. I'll see you tomorrow." and she grunted She won't remember anything by tomorrow morning anyway.
Day is done, gone the sun. Tomorrow is another day.
No Stars, I hope Nannie sleeps soundly tonight, so you do too! I am a pen-and-paper person too. My favorite recipes are written on 1/4 of an 8X10 sheet of paper -- custom cut, donchaknow!
Wow, those photos are scary, nursej22! "Normal" is 11ft and it crested at 22 1/2 ft?? I hope ppl downstream did heed evacuation warnings. Hopefully rain has stopped ?

Dianah I hope the watch proves fixable
Stars I hope you find those drops and someone came by last night to help out
Work was busier than expected, forgot I had a meeting yesterday, thankfully it ended early. Though I did get a new case. And another one at the end of the day. Got the first one done, and the 2nd partially done by the end of the day. Rest of the day was pretty quiet, exercised and wrapped more gifts
Today should be quieter at work, no meetings, and no one I have to cover for. And assuming no new cases. After work should be quiet too
Will be slightly warmer today, in the low 30s. Will get quite a bit colder over the weekend
