Good morning!
Joe, hope you have a good time at the potluck.
I was posting a couple of hours ago and got distracted. But nothing going on. Day off year. Yesterday wasn't too eventful, just one "rapid response" when a patient had a mental status changes and seizure like activity. Turns out she has some sort of brain mass but stabilized. Apparently she'd done this before, but I didn't know.
Off today. Heading to the gym and will make some Asian noodle dish for dinner. Working the weekend.
Good morning . The rain is done for a while, and the sun is peeking out. I am still exhausted from yesterday. Sis spent 8 hours in recovery yesterday after her pacer upgrade, and I'm still not sure what all went on. She is non-medical, plus got sedation and preloaded with prednisone, and is not really sure. The recovery nurse called me 4 hours after the procedure to say the Dr. wants to reprogram the pacer, but sis is fine. Two hours later, I called and was told they just need to do another ekg, but sis is doing well. Finally, around the 8 hour mark, they wheeled her out. And all she said is they did more X-rays and the doctor changed the pacer settings twice. And they sent her home with towels to sit on because somehow she had wet her pants. We stopped for a bite to eat (she hadn't eaten or had anything to drink for 24 hours). Then home. So we left home at 330 am and returned at 930 pm. The dogs were happy we got home.
Joe, your cake sounds yummy. I like to freeze cakes before frosting, because I think it makes the crumbs easier to control.
NoStars, that is great that your in-laws will help with the cost of spaying. Around here, I think it costs $300-$500.
Tweety, Asian noodles sound good. Maybe I'll get pho for lunch today.
Youngest ds has somehow misplaced his passport and a gas card for work, so I will be spending some time looking for those today. sigh.
Good Afternoon!
SiL says they are putting off BiL's stent insertion until tomorrow. This morning he called her and said that his breakfast was brought to him and it was oatmeal and turkey bacon."You know," he said, "that's just not my thing." So, she was going to bring some acceptable breakfast for him, whatever that is.
A long time ago, when he and hubby were kids, they used to put a blob of peanut butter in a bowl and mash it with a fork to blend in with syrup, and that was their breakfast. I want to say it was maple syrup they mixed w/ the p'butter, but being as how this is The South I suspect it was Karo syrup. I can't say anything about that because my younger brother used to eat frosting for breakfast sometimes! ICK! When I was young, I did not like frosting, so all my frosting went to him, which I used to say was the reason we got along so well. Per my request, I did not have a birthday cake on my birthday; I liked apple pie more, so Mom made a pie and put candles in the top, for me to blow out. Now I don't get a cake or a pie on my birthday, and I seldom eat anything for breakfast. It isn't until I have been up for 3-4 hours before I start feeling hungry, so I'll nosh on something as a 'lunchtime' snack during mid-afternoon....or not. Sometimes I wait for suppertime to eat, but many times I will feed Nannie her supper and eat something else for my supper around 7 or 8 PM.
Nannie is licking out her yogurt cup, which follows her trying to scrape every last bit of yogurt out of the cup with a spoon, Then she guzzles her cranberry juice, and I can take the tray away! Abracadabra! Breakfast is done!
Momo's breakfast is being cut by 1/3rd, as she is trying to lose some of her fatness so she can get spayed, The doc wants me to get her down to one meal a day, but I dunno if maybe she'd find 1/2 meal at breakfast and 1/2 meal at suppertime better, since she is used to eating twice a day. Anyway, we've just started this eating plan, so we'll see how it goes.
Got to go out to get more milk and dog food. After that, whatever I feel like dealing with, I'll do.....maybe! Prolly should pay a few of Nannie's bills out of her checkbook, since BiL isn't ready to take over her biznezz yet, being in the hospital and all. It's tough these days, because her check comes at the beginning of the month, and mine comes at the end of the month, and we no longer have hubby's check in the middle of the month. And I may end up having to go sit in the SSA office and take a number, before we can get hubby's check to come to me. It's not a lot more than mine, but it IS more money. But I have to get that transcript of our 2016 taxes first. I know I am a foot-dragger and when I hit that IRS brick wall I tend to throw my hands up and cuss, because they never answer their phones. And so far I haven't mailed a request in to our former tax-prep folks up in Asheville for the transcript, and I can't get them on the phone, either. Ppfftt!
Nannie changed her tune today....Haha...this morning she said, "It sure is WHITE out there!" Yes, our weather report is for 63 degrees and mostly sunny. And 'white' rhymes with 'bright', so she isn't that far off her usual observation.
I'm waiting for her to doze off, and then I'll get into something-or-other because I don't really feel like just sitting still.
.
When I was a kid we would mix peanut butter and pancake syrup and eat that with bread for a snack.
Hectic day at the hospital today but has settled down now.
Twins A and B are 29 today. They're meeting friends and going to see "The Boy and the Heron" at a theater that serves food and beer. I'm determined that tomorrow we will get some Christmas decorating done.
Wednesday night the hospital was hosting the city's drive-through Christmas lights out at the lake so a few of us went and passed out candies and accepted donations as people drove up. Evenings have been chilly.
I *finally* got reimbursed for some travel expenses today, a big relief because I didn't see how we would both make a house payment and send Christmas gifts to kids and grandkids. I would have liked to use the reimbursement to pay down the credit card balance but ... maybe later.

NJ22 hope your sister's procedure went well

Stars glad to hear that they will help cover the spaying
Hi Tweety
A pretty good day at work yesterday, considering two people were out. Counseling got cancelled so I went out on my lunch hour and got the cargo net for the new car, and even had time to install it. Hoping today will be just as easy
After work got gift wrapping supplies, exercised and almost finished the Christmas cards
After work today will finish the last Christmas card. Will also frost the cake I'm taking to tonight's potluck. It was a pumpkin spice cake I made earlier in the week and froze, hopefully the freezing doesn't make it too dry. Also hope the rain holds off until after I'm back home
Will be another unusually warm day in the mid 50s today, rain likely this evening though it shouldn't start until quite late
