NJ22 glad the furnace fix proved easy

Stars I'm glad you found his phone.  Definitely understandable that you need a break

Ado glad the snow proved minimal

Tweety that was great that you had no patients while charge

Work was better yesterday, things seem to be slowing down.  Had some time to help others

After work stayed in and exercised and worked on knitting.  We got some snow but not much wind

This morning it was -9, but still very little snow and not much wind either.  The storm hasn't been nearly as bad here as expected

We've been told we can leave work early, once our work is done.  Hoping I can leave early

Will also stay in tonight too, as it will still be quite cold, the high will only be 1

Good morning!

Joe that is cold for sure.  Hope you get off early.

Glad you got that phone back and that it works Stars.

Normal day off here.  In the upper 60's but that's as high as it will get and the cold front coming in will drop temps to the mid-30's which is crazy cold for these parts.

Hope everyone has a good day.

Ended up taking a PTO day today so we could finish preparing to have some sort of Christmas celebration between everyone's work schedules. Still cold but supposed to be up to 20 by 4 pm.

Stars, I'm amazed that you found that phone and it works.

Hubby went to the ABC and got some more bottles of Peach Vodka. He drank one last night after he took his PM meds (what a moron). So, we usually sit in my room noshing a bit and talking a bit before he goes into his room and goes to bed. When he got up....

He fell face down into one corner of my small room and did not want (refused!) me to help him up...I did get 0xygen on him, as he was panting kinda bad. It took him 1/2 hour to get up to sit on the bench beside my bed. His whole left arm's skin was torn up and I had blood on my carpet, my jacket which fell on the floor when he did, and blood on my fitted sheet and ivory-colored down-blanket.

After he 'recuperated' to a degree, he stood up and fell back, and sat down immediately on the bench and then fell off the bench, over sideways at the end on the bed, between the bed and my Queen Anne desk. Took him 15 to 20 minutes to get out of that tight spot.

I had to bandage everything, and then helped him into bed. Twenty minutes later, as he was falling asleep, he rolled off the bed and onto the floor...again, face down. More 0xygen,  and 20 minutes to get him up back on the bed.

I was disgusted.

This morning I went out to the store to pick up a few things I didn't want us to run out of over this Holiday weekend. When I got back, hubby was slurring and not steady. Half-fell going up from the den to the kitchen. Got him seated at the table. He decided he was going to try to make himself a sandwich but was SO unsteady getting stuff out of the fridge, I made him sit back down so he wouldn't fall over, and I made his sandwich.

While he was eating, I talked to him, even though I know words don't make a difference to the alcoholic. But I said I was serious as a heart attack....it was incredibly stupid of him to drink so much this morning and early afternoon, after what he went through last night. I said if he can't moderate his drinking just a bit, to get through the weekend, he was going to wind up in his favorite place again: the ambulance and the ER. And/or get an unwanted admission. He goes Tuesday to get his staples out and I can only imagine what the doc will say about all the falls he has been taking....THREE times just yesterday!

Anyway, right now he is in the recliner; both he and Nannie have their eyes closed.

It is sunny, with blue skies, and it is brrrrr 27 degrees, and very windy.

Whoopeeeee. What a wonderful Holiday time we are having. I got a Christmas card for Nannie, and absolutely nothing for everyone else.

I am so sorry, NoStars. That's not much of a holiday for you. Going back to the hospital is probably the safest thing for you both, but if he refuses, and they don't think he's a danger to himself, they can't keep him. I wonder if it would help if you call the hospital, although, I doubt it. The breathing thing is concerning for pleural fluid or ascites build up.

Hi Joe. I would definitely stay in for that kind of cold. It's good that you haven't gotten much snow.

Tweety, that kind of cold snap would be uncomfortable indeed. Eek, falling iguanas!

Ado, seems like a good idea to take a PTO day before the holidays.

I have today off as a holiday, but even if I didn't, I would have taken it off. We got more snow overnight, followed by sleet, and now freezing rain. If I can't stand up on it, I won't drive on it! It should warm up by this evening and start to thaw and rain. I am going to stuff some gift certificates into envelopes, and that will my version of gift wrapping. UPS hasn't been able to deliver a few things, so I will print off my amazon order confirmations and present those. I heard on the news that all of SeaTac's runways (the main airport for Seattle) were shut down for a time, due to being coated with frozen rain. I am glad I had no plans to fly this weekend.

Stay warm, all

Okay, now this part is to TOS: Please don't asterick 'the word' out! Please!

And a small giggle for the rest of us:

We were talking about all the different birds coming to where I scattered all the wild bird-seed. Nannie pipes up, "Yeah, I saw two or three pretty big peckers flying around the yard!"

I'm sorry you're not having much of a holiday, Stars. I truly hope your dh pulls his head out of his you-know-what soon. Thanks for the laugh.

J22, hope you are staying warm and cozy.

Hubs went with me today and we made sure there's stuff for everyone to unwrap. Of course that meant I had to wrap it. I ordered tamales from a little restaurant here and picked them up today. Did not sleep well last night and I think allergies are to blame. Maybe because we've let the cats come sleep with us the last few nights.

We watched Guillermo del Toro's Pinocchio.
