Fresno State BSN entry

Published

Hi all,

I was interested in applying to the Fresno State BSN program for spring 2010 but am unsure if my GPA makes the cut. I don't want to blow the extra $50-60 on a school I wouldn't get in to anyway.

If anyone is willing to share their GPA/TEAS scores and whether they were admitted and for what term, I'd be greatly appreciative.

hey, i heard they are not taking any new student (transfers student) for spring (due to budget issues). so, as long as you attend fresno or any csu's for fall 2009, you will have limited pool of people to compete with in the spring. good luck!

ughh! i hate that! and i had hopes for applying to fresno this august for spring 2010!!

oh well, at least i applied for bakersfield before they closed hehehehe. just hoping they'll have enough money to start a spring 2010 class.

Hi everybody(im new here),

Right now I'm a pre-nursing major at Fresno State working on my Pre-Reqs.If everything works out I plan on applying for the program in Spring 2011.Anyways enough about me.I got a question about the GPA needed to get into the program and the number of people who get accepted per semester. Is it as hard as I hear? I'm so scared that I'm thinking about switching majors. If I can get any info that would be a big help.thanks in advance

Hello! Good luck with your prereqs. If you wanna get into Fresno you gotta do good on them cuz that's all they look at. So your English, Comm, Philosophy, Stats, Micro, Anatomy, Physio and I think that's it. Try to get A's. I have one C, 3.7 GPA in prereqs and didn't get it. But just barely missed it. If you're just starting prereqs give it a try and your all. The classes aren't that bad. I really liked the science ones. I think they accept 60 people each semester. I don't really know how hard it is because I'm not there yet, but I'm sure it is intense, but if you start learning to study well now, by then you should be able the get thru it. Hope this helped and again GOOD LUCK with the prereqs.

just like mariah's mom said, their minimum gpa for this semester was in the 3.7.. i would suggest try getting a's in their pre-reqs. also, try minimizing the number of science classes you take at a time. the most i took was 3 science classes a semester with g.e's. apply to as many schools as possible (that requires you to know what the pre-reqs are for those other schools). good luck.

to mariah's mom, call the office, *there is one open spot i think*

hey Afro 81...yea I know!!! It doesn't look too good for me, but oh well. I should get in for sure next semester. I don't wanna keep calling I am already the pain in the butt that keeps calling...lol! So did you decide to go with Fresno?

Thanks for the encouragement

Well I got As in the Comm,English,Math, and Critical thinking pre-reqs

and a B in anatomy so I got the 3 science classes left to do

For the ones who are in Fresno State right now I was wondering if *** was a good chem teacher cause thats who I'm taking this semester and if you have any recommendations for a micro teacher

Hi there!

I heard that Professor *** is a great professor, BUT he's super hard. I would think that his class is hard because he's the head of the department of chemistry at Fresno State. And for recommendations for microbiology. You/anyone should take microbiology with Dr. **** (I think?) at Madera Community College, because I heard that she's a great professor and she's super easy.

*SIGHS* I'm so nervous, because I'm applied to the Fresno State Nursing program for the spring 2010. Hopefully I'll get in. I just need to do well in my two science classes at Fresno State (Microbiology & Physiology). Has anyone taken these classes at Fresno State? Can anyone give me a heads up of what it's like or any good/great advice for me to do well? Which reminds me, I still need to take the TEAS exam! I need to do that soon! Any advice on that as well. Thank you! Much appreciated. Work hard and study hard to all of the pre-nursing/nursing students!

WOW!!! CONGRATS ON GETTING ACCEPTED!! You are the first person who I've heard of who have gotten accepted this early on after applying. I usually hear people getting accepted right before or even during when the semester has already started.

I'm actually applying for spring 2010 too and I am soooo nervous, the wait is killing me. And I am assuming of course that you are already done with your pre-reqs? Do you know anyone else who has already been accepted??

Anyways, congratulations again! I am sure you deserve this. =]:nurse:

Thanks! I was actually surprised to see that I was accepted this early too. I just happened to check my application status one day online. I haven't found anyone else tho. I do have all of my pre reqs done. how about you?? Trust me I understand the waiting. I applied for Fall 09 and was told that my gpa was so close that I could get in if people didn't decide to take the offer. So I waited up until the first week of school. It had me insane! I'm sure you'll get in. After all we don't have all the competition from people that aren't current students. Is this your first time applying? We need to stay in touch...it'll be nice to know someone WHEN we start in January. Do you know anyone else who has applied.

HEY! I think I got in. I checked my account and it said "Congratulations" and that I've been accepted for "conditional" entry and that they'll be sending me my acceptance letter in a few weeks. What did yours say when you found out you got in?? I still do have one more class (that I'm taking right now, which is physiology). I'm wondering what the gpa cutoff is for this semester because somewhere in the online letter that I read, it mentioned the gpa was 3.60...but I'm not too sure.

And if you don't mind me asking, the previous semester that you weren't able to get in, when you logged online to check, what did it say online? I'm just hoping I really did actually get in....I still need to go talk to the advisor to double check everything by this week.

I don't know anyone else who got in besides YOU! =) I'm sooo nervous/excited/ and happy though :) But the semester is not over yet so I still need to focus on my last pre-nursing class. =)
