Specializes in Trauma/neuro.

I am moving to FRESNO next month. I am trying to figure out what hospital is the best to start applying to. All the posts about Fresno are pretty old so I don't know if they are still accurate.

--I have been an RN for >5 years, worked at Sharp in San Diego on Neuro/trauma/stroke PCU. I am interested in going into psych but Fresno doesn't seem to have many options so I may have to stick with neuro or trauma for now.

which hospital is best to the nurses with ratios/pay/benefits etc?

is there anywhere I should stay away from?

How much per hour on average?

PLEASE HELP! I don't know any nurses in FRESNO and am nervous about picking a hospital based on their website!.

I am have to move there because my husband is going to CRNA school at national.

I work at Community Regional Medical Center and love it. We're a level 1 trauma center so we get all of the serious traumas from the central valley + we have a brand new neuro ICU and some new neuro surgeons! Lots of neuro pts. I work in Medical & Neuro ICU and really enjoy it. We're a teaching hospital, so if you're not really interested in the sometimes headache-inducing job of collaborating with fresh out of med-school residents, I'd suggest looking elsewhere.

St Agnes/Kaiser pay better, but I have not worked at either so I can't really tell you if they're that great.

With your experience, at CRMC you'd probably start at around $33-35/hr plus time and a half after 8 hrs. Kaiser/St Agnes pay more as they are private hospitals.

Community Behavioral Health is a good psych hospital in the area.

thth21, are you still working there? If so, are you still really liking it? I just applied today.

Specializes in MICU, Burn ICU.

I was going to say CRMC too! It is my dream hospital.

Do they accept new grads, specifically on the burn unit?
