Merced, I can’t apply anywhere else

If you can drop your email in here, I'll send you an email and we can work on the letter. Also, see if you know anyone else that has applied for more than 4 times also. I don't know if this will do anything but it's worth a try. ? Even if it's not for us, maybe for future students who may go through the same struggles.

Don’t listen to anyone listen to your heart and guts I apply for 5 different schools and no luck I won’t stop I will not stop and you shouldn’t either keep pushing ??

I love your attitude. I already kind of had a feeling I wouldn’t get in, when it’s meant to be I guess it will happen.

Who else on here have tried for many times? 5th time sounds ridiculous. LOL I guess it is just how things work in this program but they should consider giving students who have applied for so many times a chance. Don't you guys think that's fair?

Absolutely yes! It’s only my 3rd year and I feel discouraged. I can’t imagine doing this year after year and not being selected.

I don’t want to quote because I am just reading this now and it’s far back. It’s near finals here and I’m stressing out, I’m definitely going to pass first semester, finished all my check offs and I mathematically cannot fail but I’m shooting for more than passing my GPA is already in the dumpster, would like not to drop it too much more.

I applied to FCC twice, 2020 and 2021, unselected both time, was confirmed eligible in both years, so it wasn’t that. I don’t qualify for FAFSA and have a 3.45 cumulative GPA and for the sake of California (more prerequisites required like communications and Chemistry) my prerequisites GPA is also 3.45. I do not like the idea of debt and also don’t like the idea of private schools. At the end of 2020, I moved in with my parents in Nashville because I had no where to go at that moment and at that time it was temporary until I got into a nursing program back in Fresno hopefully for 2021. I didn’t get into Fresno State, COS or FCC, and it was suggested I try schools out here, and I don’t fool around when it comes to researching schools and they take less prerequisites here (the school I got into uses ACT/SAT scores, A&P 1 and 2, Microbiology and Psychology grades and uses points and takes the top 64 point earners, so no lottos here), other schools used TEAS or HESI, but most schools here don’t use things like communications, English or Chemistry to count towards your prerequisites. I got into the first school I tried in October of 2021 (so after all the rejections from the schools back home), literally came home, packed the rest of my stuff, drove cross country and changed my residence. I will say tuition is higher here, but there’s a ton of ways to get your tuition paid, I just of course do not qualify for any of them ?

If you have the means to (family elsewhere, nothing tying you to California I highly highly suggest you leave, get your degree and come back or stay where you go, whatever you decide when you’re done. I hear a lot of Californians go to Texas and there’s a few people from California in my cohort including me. The other added benefit is a majority of other states you move to are part of the NLC nursing compact so you are licensed in 34 states, and then you can get a license by endorsement in California, so you’ll have the license to practice in several states.

I’m deeply disappointed by the results for the people who have tried several times and didn’t get in because I’ve been on this forum with you guys for 2 years. I know Barbie in person, and it breaks my heart that she has not gotten in after 4 tries in the lotto. At the same time, I’m excited for everyone who did get in, nursing is quite an adventure, every professor I’ve had at FCC for prerequisites was excellent, and hope that their nursing instructors carry that same reputation because I was in for a huge shock at my school. For a lack of a better words my professors are ehh, they’re super nice and super supportive but not the best at lecturing or exam making. My clinicals have also been a nightmare (just my group of 8 of course ?). Also care plans are not fun, and apparently aren’t just busy work, they’re required for accreditation. Also if you’re not the best at math, definitely learn med math while you wait, I saw in FCC’s handbook they require 100% on the math proficiency, mine only required 85%.

Good luck everyone with next year for FCC or future applications this year. Definitely going to stalk next year’s FCC forums and hope everyone who hasn’t gotten in/given up gets in.

It's discouraging but good luck to you next time around or if you applied at other schools.

Thank you so much for sharing your story. Sometimes hearing someone's story lets us know what other opportunities are out there and if others can do it, we can too. Good luck to you in your program right now.
