I may try to. I do meet the TEAS score average over there. But that program is just as impacted as every other one in California

They only go to by prerequisites GPA and use TEAS as a tiebreaker, if you have a 4.0 you have a huge chance getting in even if as an alternate. Issue is, it’s like a $130 cost if you’re not an existing Fresno state student, and unless you’re post bacc you’ll have to wait until next year to apply to Fresno State.

Hopefully you get into FCC!

I’m trying to keep the faith.  It’s actually a little humorous to me that we are being rejected by a Junior College...  some of these programs seem to be becoming as competitive as Stanford or Pepperdine... like, please... it’s an associate’s degree in nursing we’re not becoming brain or neuro surgeons over here.

LOL.. right? I agree

I mean to be fair... Ben Carson was not a huge intellectual and struggled in school and the guy was a world renown neurosurgeon. Wish these colleges weren’t so hard to get into. People that may have had their struggles, life come up, are not given a chance outside of FCC because of GPA, and I hate it.

Hi! Do you mind explaining a bit of fresno States reqs. Please

so they only look at your pre req GPA ? Not commutative

I’ve met all of FCC requirements and im actually a FS grad but my overall GPA from all colleges isn’t great because I failed classes in my early semesters at state. I didn’t even bother to look at FS because I thought I wasn’t good enough

You'll need extra stuff for Fresno State. Along with FCC's prerequisites, you'll need sociology, philosophy, and statistics.... I think those are the only differences.

Your undergraduate GPA must be at least 3.0 GPA to apply for Fresno State nursing program as a postbacc student seeking a second bachelors degree in nursing.

If you’re a grad of FSU, you can apply in July of this year (which is less competitive)! It’s rumored they used cumulative GPA as another tie breaker but historically it’s prerequisite GPA and TEAS score. Their website has all the info, for the most part if you took GE requirements to get your previous degree outside of Statistics you should be able to apply, the sociology, nutrition and child development classes are not required to apply just to graduate.

I applied with

Communications

Computer Science (critical thinking class)

Stats

Micro

Anatomy and Physiology

Chemistry

English

I was eligible but my grades suck.

Wow! Yes I have a degree in Child Development from there. So all their GE and all nursing personnel reqs LOL I guess it doesn’t hurt to try if I don’t get into FCC

Im glad I read this! I’m going to look into it again

thank you!!

Ya I got a degree in graphic design from FSU, but didn’t think my grades would matter. I only had a 3.4 prerequisite GPA and a 3.45 cumulative.

What’s sad is outside of getting into nursing school, that is a good GPA >_<

LOL speak for yourself! I’m using this as a stepping stone to medschool.

Had a family friend who had the military pay for their medical school. Applied to get in the navy once they were accepted into medical school. He became a navy doctor for many years. Now is in the private sector and will have a military pension to collect at the same time. Free medical school? That’s where it’s at.

I was told in addition to the military paying for school, you can probably get into the school of your choice regardless of grades as well. I actually tried to go to officer candidate school because of this but I was deemed not medically cleared at the time. I’ve gotten my health issues under control so it can be a consideration but not sure if I want to commit to the military at this point.

I’m probably going to be crucified for saying this but....

What’s also sad is a  “B” from 2006  (thirty or forty somethings can relate to this ancient year) in general ED in person learning probably equates to the “A” someone received  in 2019 in a general ED online class.

Sorry.

I said it.

Is it just FSU grads or any university post baccalaureate?
