Yea, I barely studied.  I hate the TEAS.  absolutely hate it. I feel like it's another way for schools to make money off us, since most of us have prob. taken it a few times just to get that high score and ATI created this "need" to make money off us.  We can't use financial aid to pay for it, we don't receive any type of tax write-off for it especially for those with limited income, it comes out of our pockets and if we don't achieve the highest score, we can be disqualified because of it.  I'm an awesome LVN, did exceptionally well in my prereqs, but because I didn't score high on the TEAS, I will be disqualified? totally unfair.  The TEAS does not determine whether I will be an amazing RN or not. TEAS has nothing to do with being an RN.  So, yea, I have a very strong opinion on this TEAS.

I don’t qualify for financial aid at all, it’s the reason I can basically only apply to Fresno State or FCC, because I want to pay for it all out of pocket if I can help it. I may have to take out the smallest loan mostly for living expenses and health insurance, but trying to avoid it.

Yea, I guess.  FCC will take in 200 +- for fall, and 200 +- for Spring, am I correct?

They take 100 Spring, 100 Fall, and 10 alternates for each Spring and fall for a total of 20 alternates, for the 220 total a year.

I actually hope they do throw us all in the lottery! it would be interesting to see who gets in..

Depending on how they do it, I don’t. I know I’m eligible and it would totally suck if they put all 1100+ in the lotto, and I don’t get picked and they just start pulling alternates to take the ones that are ineligible’s spot. If they actually kept drawing names and kept the alternates, alternates until people who are eligible decline acceptance, I’d be okay with it, since your odds are really kept the same.

I agree with you 100%. It’s just not the same this way.

I will most likely take the TEAS again this year.  I have to just apply myself.  I hate it though.

I disagree. The TEAS is free at some community colleges and discounted if taken at others so the price is not an issue. Also, it tests some basic things that are considered minimum competencies to be considered capable of handling the rigors of nursing school. My physiology professor said that the TEAS score is directly correlated with a student's ability to pass NCLEX the FIRST time. Statistically, the more times a student takes to pass the NCLEX the lower the probability they'll ever pass.

But I do agree that the test was stressful but then again I took it while heavily pregnant. Was extremely happy with the outcome, my emotional butt cried all the way home.

I have always been expected to pay for the TEAS test. I have never heard of a school offering it for free/discount.  It would be nice if that were the case.  The TEAS doesn't define whether a nurse will be a successful nurse out in the real world.  The TEAS is a new exam that was created within the last 10 years.  And quite frankly, it's not about how many times a student takes the NCLEX, it's once they receive their license and start working.  Being a nurse is not just what you learn in nursing school, but it's also hands-on, it's what you learn when you're thrown out there to the wolves, so to speak and I'm sure a lot of LVN's can agree that as new LVN's we can be thrown into the ocean and we basically sink or swim.  A nurse who has taken the NCLEX 3 times is not going to be better/worse than a nurse who has taken the NCLEX once.  So, I still believe that the TEAS is a way to make extra money off folks like us.  I would really like to know which schools offer TEAS for free/discount.  Bc, I'm tired of paying the fees.  Yes, I have taken the TEAS twice before.  I'm not a dummy, I'm actually pretty smart, but for some reason, I can't pass this stupid test above 65.

Fresno City waives the fees to transfer scores if you take it with them and such, it was like $55 total for everything, and luckily you can just throw your performance break down to Fresno State, so for my score it was a flat $55. I never have to take it again (unless I’m still a sitting duck trying to get into nursing school by the time TEAS VII comes out). I think the grammar and stuff is pointless, like I’m not going to be a bad nurse not knowing perfect grammar and even though my current job requires a ton of writing, they aren’t looking if I got perfect grammar, but the math and science are incredibly important. Math is so important for just life (they’re all basic algebra and like % and ratio questions and they apply to real life) and science is applicable to the profession.

If you want to know BS fees... I paid $130 to apply to Fresno State to just be declined. You honestly cannot get cheaper than Fresno City for nursing school.

Wow, $55?!l! I had to pay $115. I took the exam through ATI's Remote Protocor testing due to the pandemic, and it was my first time taking it. The price included one free transcript sent to a college of my choice; they charge an additional $25 per college.

Oh OK! yea, when I was pregos with my daughter, I took a bunch of prereqs, and during my maternity leave, I took a bunch more classes just to get to this stage in my life, I also took a break as well.  She's 5 now! LOL but honestly, I don't know if I would have the desire/drive to take all those classes if I didn't have her.  She is def. my motivation.

what the??? $130 and you got declined??? I would have fought that! that's not fair at all! it's like robbing you, they robbed you! I would not have been happy at all.  Ridiculous. I'm so sorry that you lost that money.  It's like, how many hours does one have to work to make that money? you know what I mean?? it doesn't just land in our lap.  We have to work for it.  And to lose it just like that, its pure bureaucracy.  take take take.

my evaluation status is still pending. should I be worried?

In other news I recently landed a medical receptionist job! I started today. this is my first medical related job. Im super excited to wear scrubs lolll
