Fresno, CA nurses: Are there many jobs in your area?

Published

My dh may have an opportunity to be transferred to Fresno.

I know Cali in general has plenty of good opportunities for nurses, but what about the Fresno area, specifically?

I did an online search and found the local Fresno classifieds, but there were very few nursing jobs listed.

Please fill me in- I don't want to end up moving to an area with few nursing opportunities, as I did when we moved to north Texas.

I will post this in the general nursing discussion, also.

Just left Fresno. Loved it up there. St. Agnus is considered the best facility up there for adults, and Children's Hospital for the kids. Cost of living is lower than the LA area, and salaries are quite good. So it is a win-win situation.

I'm in Bakersfield, which is basically in the same geographic region of California as Fresno. With experience, you should encounter few or no problems with landing a job.

I am planning to move to North Texas next week, more specifically Fort Worth. Are you saying there's few job opportunities for nurses in the North Texas area? If so, I am getting mighty nervous as I sit here and type this response. :uhoh21:

We live in Oklahoma and I graduated in Texas....go to the Texas Forum and read very carefully...scary things happening in that state. We thought about moving to Texas, but after reading that we are heading to California. Nurse patient ratios are awful ..pay is bad...and if you are not a very good girl you will be black balled from being hired from any hospital in Texas....it is called Group One....read carefully......good luck...
