Fresno Adult School LVN Program

Updated:   Published

Hi Y'all,

I wanted to write and tell y'all how much I appreciate your info and thoughts on all the different subjects that are discussed here in allnurses:yeah:. After a few months surfing this site, I wanted to add my story and see if anyone is going through the same thing that I am going through. I am a CNA, but not working as one right now because securing a job in this economy is so hard, even though they need tons of them:cool:, there aren't many places hiring. So, I decided to focus on my education and I applied into the LVN program at Fresno Adult School. After finishing all of their requirements I am hoping I receive a call back from them. Anyone have any imput about going through this program? I hear its really hard to get into. I did pretty decent with the tests they gave me like scoring a 90 percentile on my C-NET, and a 12.9 on the Tabe A test. I also earned A's in all my prereq's:specs:, so again I'm hoping they give me a call, but you just never know. Also, if they do call me back, any advice on the interview questions? Any imput is appreciated !

I know I am really late replying but I want to know if you got into the program for April? Or were you trying for the November class coming up?

Hi, its very nice to hear from somebody. Yes, I was accepted into the April class of '10, I went through the interview and everything, but sadly i had to turn it down. I got a job as a caretaker, similar to a cna and I am making some money this year. I decided to retake the medical terminology class to keep myself on file for the '11 of july program. I still want to know more of what the lvn program is like and if u have any imput i'd appreciate it. I also have to retake the c'net, but atleast i'll have an idea of what to expect. Please reply back as maybe we can help each other get into the program, tc.

Oh I see! I wish I had more info, I was actually looking for information from you.

I just got called for an interview on August 12th for the November class. I wanted info about the interview and how long they take to do call backs or mail a letter afterwards?

The interview is very easy. There are two people interviewing you, one is ----- and the other is one of the nursing instructors. Questions are easy going, not like a job interview. Instead they want to get to know you by asking questions like, tell me something interesting about yourself, and why do you want to be a nurse. Also they ask you scenerio type questions like, if you were head nurse and there was a nurse who was not doing her job correctly what would you do? I was suprised the interview was easy. Can i ask how did you do on grades and scores? Did you use the Cnet study guide? It took 1 1/2 weeks for ---- to invite me to pick up the health packet. Good Luck, i hope u do well. Please keep in touch , Ty, AnnaSali

OH! Thank you so much! I was (and I am still) kind of nervous about the interview! ------ makes me nervous and I get all fumbly. She has been nice to me, but people have said she is mean and/or stern..

My grades were pretty good, Medical Terminology= A, Anatomy/Physiology= A-, and Medical Math= A, BUT in Study Skills I got a C. Im not sure why because that class didn't really consist of anything new..Maybe it was because of my absences (I left out of town for my great grandmother's funeral).

My Tabe A scores were all 12.9 and my C-Net scores were 84 percentile total. I did GREAT on the reading and language but I was about average for math (I NEED to work on that). I got the study guide but I only used it to practice the math questions.

I am trying to think of answers to the questions they could possibly ask in the interview so I dont end up with a bad answer or no answer at all! So thank you for letting me know it wont be as bad as I thought. I hope it only takes me a week and a half to hear back because I hate waiting! Especially for something this important to me :)

I will definately keep in touch. Then if I get in, I can answer your questions as you did mine! Thanks so much

Angela

your welcome angela, Good luck to you Take care:nurse::clpty:annasali

thank you ilovelucy76 . i will have my interview on aug. 12 as well for the nov program.

How did your interview go? Do you remember when they said they would start notifying people?

yes. they told us we will have the result within 8 working days. i think things went ok but i can't be sure. the questions were the same as ilovelucy76 and they asked me if i am going to work if i am in the program. i told them no. that's pretty much about it. wish you luck!

Yeah the questions weren't so bad. Best wishes to you too! :) This will be a long 8 days.

Has anyone gotten a result yet? I didnt ask if it would be by phone or by mail. If its by phone thats not good for me because I have a new number.
