Fresenius home peritoneal nurse

Published

Has anyone worked for Fresenius's home PD division? If so, what was it like? Crazy hours and a lot of overtime? This is in texas and i was Thinking of applying. Thanks for feedback!

Specializes in Registered Nurse.

I have worked in most of the dialysis specialties. HOME dialysis means commuting, home visits. Also "on call" that may require some overtime. You should be able to work independently because some home nurses work alone in smaller programs. Also be aware that compliance is an issue with patient's who perform dialysis in the home setting. You will participate in resolving compliance issues and getting patients to meet CMS goals for patient quality. The hours are stable Mon-Fri, with the occasional "on call" requirement. The pay for the "on call" headache is ridiculous. Patient census for home dialysis varies and you may be asked to work multiple facilities, if your census is down.

Specializes in Med/Surg, Dialysis.

I work for davita as a peritoneal dialysis nurse, it's ok, I liked it more when I first started, pt's are constantly texting me and calling me, also I am on call every other week, money is ok but my phone is constantly by my side, and I am always checking my phone. I miss 12 hour shifts at times, getting tired of working mon-fri, I also cover multiple clinics due to low census. Mgmt is always pushing for more pt's to train and tons of paperwork.

Thank you so much! I have decided to hold off on applying for now and look into another position.
