Free Time Studying for CRNA.

I just recently graduated from a BSN program, and I want to pursue my doctorate as a CRNA within the next two or three years. Since I have so much time between now and then, I'd like to start doing to studying. I was told to start with advanced practice pharmacology. I'm borrowing my husband's book (Pharmacotherapeutics for Advanced Practice, Arcangelo & Peterson, 2013). Does anyone have any other recommendations for advanced pharmacology books or other subjects I can be reviewing?

I like Katzung for pharm. The Vargo anesthesia app is great as well, I use it a lot as a student. Lots of pharm and case info on the app. Definitely start getting materials ready to start preparing for the CCRN certification and GRE, as most CRNA schools require them for admission.

We are using John Nagelhout's "Nurse Anesthesia" book. It's like the bible for our program. Not pharmacology focused, but it's in there.

I'm not a CRNA or adult ICU nurse, but you could also use your time to start studying review materials for your CCRN. You probably already know this, but having your CCRN can help make you a more competitive candidate for CRNA programs, and understanding the material on the CCRN exam would probably help as a foundation for CRNA school. Reviewing the material may also help you become proficient as an ICU nurse more quickly, especially as a new grad.

Review the underlying pathophysiology of your ICU patients. Strive to understand everything you can about the patients you take care of. You'll be a great nurse to them and make a difference in lives.
