***FREAKING*** out!! SFSU BSN program

Published

!!!!OMG!!!!!:uhoh3: :uhoh21:

This is THE most frustrating thing in the world. :banghead: I graduated from UCLA on 2004, and just applied to SFSU/Canada College BSN program. I have worked in healthcare for 7 years, have a 3.8 in my pre-req's and overall 3.5. I am finishing up Chem (my last pre-req) right now. I will know end March/early April if I am in.

The suspense of not knowing my fate and if I will finally be able to become a nurse. I have known my entire life that I wanted to be in medicine (I helped raise my brother who was a near-drowning victim) for 18 years, until his death in 2001.

It's KILLING me!!!!! I stare at the SFSU website everyday, to make sure I didn't miss anything.

I think I'm a good applicant and my boyfriend is so sick of hearing me talk/worry about it b/c he sys "Don't worry - you'll get in!". He's confident in me but I DON'T KNOW MY COMPETITION. I am not so confident tht I will be admitted. Anyone else appyling to this program??

Am I the only freak out there????????

You are not the only one!! I think about it often!!! I will also know in late March/early April whether or not I get in.

A plus for me...I keep myself VERY busy!! I have a full-time job as well as my baby girl at home to take care of...she is 17 months and keeps me quite busy!! I am also taking a class this semester, so that keeps me busy as well. But I have to say, when I am driving home from work...everyday I am thinking "maybe it'll be in the mail today".

I have it in my mind already that I didn't get in, but I am praying for a pleasant surprise. Either way, not much I can do now except try again for the Spring semester if I don't get in.

Good luck and let us know what happens!!!

This made me laugh so hard, because it sounds just like me! I remind everyone everyday that I'm one day closer to receiving my notification, and they all chime in, "Don't worry, of course you'll get in!" How do they know!? My boss wrote one of my letters of recommendation and I chide him that if he knows for sure that I'll be accepted he must have slipped a sizeable check in the letter of rec. on my behalf.

Seriously, our family, friends and coworkers are there to support us, and they quite often do, but they really don't know how much agony we're going through, seriously!

A lot of us arround here are in the same situation. I applied last semester traying to get in spring 07 and all my friends and family said exactly the same thing and I was so sure I was going to get in , lol I couldn't think of anything else. Well it happens that I didn't get in and I was so disapointed. But, you know what, is not the end of the world, I just applied to two programas and while I hear some news (until May) I'm spending as much time as I can with my kids and hope for the best. That doesn't mean I don't think about it but sooner or later we are going to get IN. If you don't, take the good side of it and enjoy one more semester good luck and Just keep the faith!!!!!!

I hope you applied to more than one program. They send out their acceptances rather late (late, late March, early April), so rather than worrying about something that you have NO control over, do something good for yourself. The competition is fierce and there are lots of qualified applicants, so yes, you really won't be "certain" until you receive your letter in the mail. By the time I received their acceptance, I have already heard from the other places; I ended up going somewhere else. So just relax and enjoy your spring! :-)

I hope you applied to more than one program.

Unfortunately, I was uber dumb and only applied to SFSU. :imbar :trout: (Yes, I know I am stupid! :banghead: ) Trust me I have learned my lesson. Mostly, because the other places I was looking at (i.e. - SJSU) require that ALL your pre-req's are completed at the time of application - I'm finishing Chem right now, hence I can’t apply.

If I don’t get in, I will just apply again next year (including SJSU and other CC's etc.).

I know it's not the end of the world, but it certainly does suck right now!!!

I plan on applying at SFSU/Cañada College next fall.. and ya know, maybe the fall after that too hah ohh man. it stresses me out whenever I think about it. of course this is assuming I get into the classes I need.. didn't get into any prereqs this semester so I have to take them over summer :\ I'll stupidly only be applying there too, and I guess figuring out what prereqs i may need for other schools (SJSU) if I dont get in my first try.

luckily I'm also working on a spanish minor, so if need be I can just change that to a double major instead to fill the time

anyway good luck!! keep us posted if you get in! (:

That would be a good idea. I'm sure you know, one of the "Extra Credit" criteria is multicultural experience or fluency in another language. It will definitely get you bonus points. Are you taking the pre-req's at Canada?

nah, I'm already a student at SFSU so I'm taking all my classes there. (:

I am applying to a traditional BSN program next semester, and I have a friend who just applied to an Accelerated BSN at the same school. She just got her rejection letter in the mail. This has devastated her. She took pre-reqs for two years for this. Pre-req GPA was 4.0. BS and MS in another field at 3.8 GPA. She volunteered at a hospital and free clinic.

She has been in her bed for a couple of days now. Seeing this happen to her has taught me two things:

-Have a plan B

-Don't take it personally if declined

I think we need the encouragement from our friends and relatives. At the same time - I don't think many of them really understand that the competition is so fierce that many qualified (and overqualified) applicants are being turned away due to the masses applying for each seat.

I applied and was accepted to SFSU.

How ever I am just graduating high school this year, and was accepted into pre-nursing, not the actually nursing school yet!

I'm not sure I am going to attend though, as I also got accepted to 5 other schools as well. I live in the bay area and kinda of want to go to college in another region. But we'll have to see where I end up! lol

Good luck to all of you worrying!

P.S. I hope this answered your private message Jewels, good luck :)

See...it's stories like this that freak me out. Your friend sounds like a great candidate. I just don't get it. I am even more worried now!!

Yes, Katie, that answered it. Thanks so much! :wink2:
