Hey all! I’ve been trying to lurk around the internet and find any info about admissions to Front Range Westminster’s ADN program. I know they changed their admission criteria recently from a 15-point system to a 50-point system and I was wondering if anyone that’s been accepted recently with the 50 pt system could tell me how many points they had and if I stand a chance! I applied for the Spring 2020 program and am very anxious about waiting to know if I got in. Also if anybody else applied we could use this thread to share our acceptances! any info would be very helpful, thanks!

Hello there! I also applied to the spring 2020 program. The waiting game is horrible! I have no idea how many points previous semesters needed. I attended the information meeting in August and the director said it varies each semester depending on who applies. It's nerve wracking not knowing where you stand. Did you apply anywhere else?

Hello!

This will be my second time applying to FRCC. Last semester the minimum score for acceptance was just over 45 points, I believe. I was at 44.5-ish, since I hadn't quite finished A&PII and it was my first application. Don't get discouraged if you're not accepted the first round. It's become so competitive that those two points for having applied once before are almost essential.

When I spoke to an adviser after the last round of applications, she said that they may be doing away with the two points associated with a second application. If that happens, they'll probably put more weight on GPA or HESI. Just keep that in mind if you don't make it in this semester! ?

Good luck guys!

Emily

Thanks for the reply! I did not add up how many points I had and the rubric is no longer on the FRCC website. Do either of you have the admissions ranking criteria? It sounds like you were so close, Emily!

If they took it down, I can almost guarantee they're going to be changing it for the next round of applications. I can't find my copy of it, but let's see if I can remember...

3 points for living in the service area

GPA was worth 16 points (ap I, human growth and development, nutrition, microbiology, I believe were the only ones counted) You take your GPA just from these classes and multiply it by four.

HESI was worth 16 points (raw score x .16)

3 points for finishing AP II with a C or higher

2 points for a prior application

The last 10 points I think were allocated to having a CNA (or related) license and hands on experience. You get all the points if you have a medical license and 250+ hours of hands on.

Hope that helps! If I find my copy I'll post it here.

I found a friend that had a copy of the criteria. It looks like I have 45.7 points. It looks like it will be close for me. You should get in for sure, Emily. They did say that they are planning on getting rid of the 2 points for second time applicants at the informational meeting.

45.7 should hopefully be enough!! Fingers crossed!! I've pretty much maxed out the possible points, so I wouldn't know what to do if I got rejected again. ? They said it could take up to 45 days for this round of applications, so we should know by the end of October.

Maybe I'll be seeing you this Spring! ?

Good luck to you, hopefully we both get in! Was there any other information they provided at the info meeting that I wouldn't find online? I couldn't make it to that meeting, unfortunately :/ I plan to apply to Arapahoe's ADN program for Spring 2020 and CU Anschutz BSN program for Summer 2020. Front Range is my no. 1 choice though. Are you applying anywhere else??

I'm sure you'll get in!! Do you know if the A&P2 points are all or nothing? I assumed since they were out of three points, it depends on what grade you received for the course (i.e. A=3 pts, B= 2 pts, etc). However I heard that they just grant you all three points if you had a grade higher than a C. Also, do you think they'll just adjust the total points out of 48? I hope so, that'd make my chances a lot closer!

I hope to see you next semester too!

The A&PII points are all or nothing and are not factored into the GPA. The point system is out of 50 points for everyone, so people that are applying for the second time have 2 points more no matter what; unfortunately for us! Only applicants that had a 100% complete application the first time will get the two points, so if someone applied without finishing their pre-requisites, they will not receive the 2 points.

They made it clear at the informational meeting that all transfer credits had to be evaluated and on the unofficial FRCC transcript for them to be valid. They also stated that the resident status would only be accepted if you provided a valid drivers license with the address within boundaries. One last thing they mentioned at the info meeting is that not one spot was given to the wait list last semester. This program is in such high demand that people are not giving up their spots. They said they had to read a stack of essays last semester to determine the last spots, so they extended the wait time to 45 days in order to give themselves enough time to properly evaluate each application. Its unfortunate that there is such a small class each semester, but it is what it is. I really hope we all get it:)

FRCC needs to reopen Boulder county's nursing program. There are too many quality candidates that are getting turned away simply because there aren't enough spaces. I work with a guy that applied for a few years, until the advisers pretty much told him he needs to choose a different career. ? Two other girls I work with gave up before even applying and started working on different degrees. All three would have made awesome nurses, but because they didn't have 4.0s and super high HESI scores, they stood no chance.

I'm grateful that I have competitive scores, but also disappointed that so many smart and competent people get left behind in this process.

I wonder if they will be replacing the two points allocated to a second application, or just nixing them. I feel like they might add something, like points for doing the A&P/other sciences HESI tests.

All this chatter is making me even more excited/nervous than I was before!

Hi All!

From a previous post: the cut off for Fall 2019 was 45.12 points. I have heard that Spring is usually more competitive because there are more applicants. Anyone else wondering if there will be even more now that FRCC is offering the BSN?

I applied only to FRCC with 46.6 points. I had to submit the application twice because the first time I somehow missed putting in a letter grade for A&P. Hoping that mistake doesn't affect me.

Sooo nervous. I'm wishing you all the best of luck! I know everyone has worked so hard for this. Hopefully we will all see each other in class a few months from now ❤️
