Suggestions of New Stethoscope?

Published

Finally starting fulltime in the OR and really need a new stethoscope. Had a littman Cardiology III that just walked off one day. Need to make the purchase in the next day or so need any suggestions you guys have. Not looking for the most expensive one but not cheap one either. Willing to pay a few hundred. Talked to a few and they claimed a bell is impt for bruit ausc ect so the master cardiology is out. Not really sure whats out there and if anesthesia providers tend to lean on one model vs another. Let me know, thanks.

ryan,

I have just done the same thing. I had a cardiology and a cardiology three for 10 yrs. I went ahead and went with the Master Cardiology (all black edition). I am very pleased with it. I got it from allheart.com I believe. They put my name on the tubing. It is pretty sweet.

hope it helps

oh, I also have a phillips electronic stethoscope as well. Its okay.

Whatever you do, get the longer standard version. Do not get the shorter length one, it's not really practical and for other obvious reasons.

The difference in acoustics and length will not be noticed by a human ear.

The best advice is get one with good ear peices that you feel confortable with. It is important to be comafotable and really know how to use it.

Ended up getting a blinged out black metal on black rubber master cardiology with the big bodied 27inch tubing and the tricked out side clip. WIth my initials engraved in old gangsta english.

Same one I have, minus the gangsta english.

What? No gold plating? I'm joining forces with Littman....developing a Sprewell style spinning diaphragm...now that would be a blinged out stethescope.

Please tell: Is the Master Cardiology noticeably better than a standard Littman, like the Classic II SE I have? I do alright with it, but I'd get something else if I knew I'd hear better. Thanks for the info.

There is a notable difference between the Littmann Cardiology Master and the Cardiology III. I owned a master and now a cardiology III. I find the cardiology III is good but find the difficult quieter sounds harder to hear.

Does it come with a removable grill? Was it pimped by Xzibit?

Be careful with those blinged out stethoscopes because they tend to grow LEGS!!! I just have a regular Master Classic and it serves me just fine.

Hi everyone. I just came back from nursing school orientation and I'm not sure if I should spend $100 extra for the Master Cardiology or just get te Classic II SE. Is it worth the investment for a nursing student?
