Forsyth Tech Spring 2013

U.S.A. North Carolina

Published

Hi Everyone! I'm new to this forum. Is anyone applying to to the spring '13 ADN program? The closer the deadline gets the more anxious I become! I hope I have enough points to get in!!!

@brightfuture

No lol she just said they can't really say for sure what the range will be but that i was within the last couple of ranges from past semester. so I'm really hoping that I'm in lol I mean i feel pretty good about my points. I'm just hoping that some people dont have all their classes or have Cs in A&P. lol

If you want to exchange emails we could chat more? I am also debating about retaking the TEAS. I was really sick when I took it and think I can do better. I had all the classes on the list completed with A's with the exception of one B. I am feeling like the range will be higher this semester.

You think it'll be higher??? lol Now i'm really panicking!!!! [email protected]

I sent you a message from Kuhnskeke...

Can someone tell me what the MAR is?

Hi Lisadowhat

The MAR review is done after your other things such as transcripts, nursing info session etc are complete. Basically you go in with an advisor and they calculate your points and make sure your totals match to theirs. I am going tomorrow as the other requirements are done. It is the final step to schedule your TEAS test.

I'm super late to this forum, but anyway I'm in the same boat. I've done all I can do to get in the program. Just need to hear some good news!! I thought about taking the TEAS over but ummm $35 doesn't just hang around in my pockets on the regular. Which is partly why I need this the degree.

I read somewhere that at GTCC your TEAS score matters the most over grades. So say I have 35 points and made a 75 on the TEAS as opposed to another person with 45 points and a 65 on their TEAS. I would have the upper hand. I don't know how true it is (or if it even applies to FTCC) but it makes me feel a type of way, because I worked REAL hard for my A's and B's I want them to count for something..!!

BEST WISHES TO YOU ALL

According to the MAR review I went to, accepted students for the Fall 2012 program had composite scores of 158-183'ish.

On FTCC's system, I'm at 147 currently.

I have a C in Gen Psych and a C in A&PII from nearly 8 years ago, both dragging my scores down. I doubt, honestly, that I could bring the A&PII up to an A but the Gen Psych I know I could - I've gotten As in Developmental and Abnormal, so I feel confident there.

My TEAS was a 74 with absolutely no studying and no idea as to what the test even covered - so with some work I could boost this some.

I guess the question is, could I boost it enough to "matter" -- I'd say a 160 composite would be "safe" but a 13 point improvement on the TEAS would be interesting, to say the least.

Balatro- If I was you, take the TEAS again. I had 154 last application period and was put on the waiting list. Ended up being 2nd on the waiting list when school started.I am kicking myself for it. Had I taken the teas again and gotten a few extra points I could have been in now. Don't regret it. And if you could get closer now, you have a better chance in the future.

I too am applying for Spring 2013. I took the TEAS today for the third time. My prior grades were 76 and 69 and today I made 78. That brings my points total to 153. I'm a little doubtful about getting in because the points are usually at least 155+. I had gotten in the program two years ago with 161 (more points from version IV of the TEAS) but didn't pass the first semester. It's a tough program and only a handful actually graduate. All I can do is wait and pray. Good luck to everyone.

Erin, I've taken some official practice TEAS this past week and gotten a 78 and 81. I will go in and at least retake it, officially - it can't hurt.

I have an app in at GTCC as well, their due date was the 11th and Tiffany Bryant said she should have everyone notified by the next week - so I might be okay there, but we'll see.

Unfortunately if I don't get in at GTCC or Forsyth, I'm going to apply to the LPN program and go the slower route to becoming an RN (slower by 1 semester, so not a big deal). The way Forsyth's schedule works I wouldn't be able to redo Psych (and possibly A&PII) in the Spring and make the deadline for the Fall since grades and acceptances are based on completed courses - not courses you're currently attempting.

Getting burnt out on being a CNA really - I've come to greatly appreciate the work they do and I love my residents dearly but it's not something I can see myself doing 1-2 years from now.

Im sorry you didn't pass the 1st semester. That is really unfortunate. What was so hard about it that caused you to fail? I know it is a tough program but I feel like as hard as everyone works to get in the program, the instructors should see to it that you pass and make it to the next semester. I understand I have to do my part too, but it really does upset me when I hear things like this. It just seems discouraging.
