Forsyth Medical Center

Does anyone know the starting pay for a new grad at Forsyth Med Center? I am graduating in Dec and am considering moving to Winston. I would really appreciate any info about pay, shift differentials, and/or working conditions for a new grad.

Thanks in advance!

The only thing that I can tell you about Forsyth Hospital is that they do hire LPNs. Baptist Hospital which is also in Winston is a wonderful place to work. I can't tell you about specific pay and differentials, but I do know that they offer excellent sign on bonuses and great educational reimbursement if you want to further your education. I can tell you all of this because I've been talking to some of the nurses down there this week while I've been visiting my friend that has the brain tumor. Every nurse that I've talked to at Baptist has nothing but great things to say about their work environment, nurse to patient ration, etc. I've been asking about this because I am interested in working there when I graduate. It's over 100 miles round trip for me, but if I could get the weekend shift and still continue with my education it would equal out (especially with their education reimbursement). I do know that Baptist hospital does not hire any new LPNs. The LPNs that they have that work there have been grandfathered in when they stopped hiring LPNs. However, they do have a longterm care facility that is part of the Baptist Hospital that hires LPNs. I live in Virginia and our pay rate here is no where near as good as North Carolina. I'm sorry that I couldn't give you any specifics on salaries. Some people are very private about their income and I didn't want to pry. I'll try to find out some more info when I go back down there on Thursday. Hope that some of this helps you.

Thanks for your input. I'll have to look into Baptist Hospital. I've heard good things about it as well and I do want to continue my education, so tuition reimbursement definately would be a plus.

i interviewed at Forsyth Medical Center and they offered me and some of my classmates $19.25 base pay and if I remember correctly for 3rd shift diff was an extra $4.00. The thing I didn't like was that they required you to sign a one year contract stating that if you left for any reason before the one year was up you had to pay them $1500.00 and that's the reason I turned down the job. They gave a lame excuse for this policy and I was not willing to drive 120 miles round trip to a job that I may not like and not be able to give a 2 week notice without having to fork out $1500.00 . Otherwise I would have taken the job:o .

I work at Forsyth Medical Center. We had a market adjustment go into effect on Sunday that puts new grad pay up to $19.85. i know this because I just completed the LPN to RN program at my community college, and my role changed on Sunday from LPN to RN! (There is also expereince pay, but I am not sure of the rate, my boss is out of town!). I don't know if all new employees are having to sign the contract, I know some of our new people have, and some of them haven't. Call 336-277-1900. That is the employment divsion of Forsyth Medical Center. Forsyth is a great place to work. I won't lie and say that everything is rosy all the time, but it isn't that way anywhere, even Baptist! Baptist is a nice hospital, but I think we compare. Plus, we are not a teaching hospital, so unless you work on OB, you deal with very few residents. (Baptist doesn't deliver babies- we got OB and they got Trauma. It was a contract they made 25+years ago!). Please send me a private message (PM) if you have questions.
