Foreign RN looking for a job in MA need advice

Published

Hi there everyone! I am foreign educated nurse from the Philippines and currently looking for a job in Massachusetts. I read that most of the nurses here are having tough time to find a job in Massachusetts then I guess it will be more difficult for me. So I am bit anxious. I successfully passed the NCLEX-RN last OCtober of 2007 and already had my MA RN license. I worked in the hospital in my country as staff nurse in General Ward which comprises of Med-Surg, Pediatric, Labor and Post partum care for 6 months. But I dont know if that will be counted as work experience here.

Do you know any healthcare facility or hospital willing to hire foreign nurses? Please give me some advice on what should I do to be able to get a job. What courses should I take to improve my nursing skills? I have to admit that I am not really confident of myself right now to practice here but I am hoping I can easily adapt with the work environment and the facilities. How long usually is the training period?

Thank you very much. Your reply will be greatly appreciated.

there is a lot of courses for Rn's at Boston College. Any additional paper will increase your chance. They have IV therapy, etc..

Specializes in CTICU.

What is your immigration status? Are you work authorized?

Thanks anyausa for the advice!

It has been known for some establishments to hire foreign nurses that do not have permission to work in the US. They more than likely have passed NCLEX but do not have EAD or GC and in the US illegally

If the OP doesn't have permission to work EAD or GC then may find it hard to find a employer.
