hello, i just graduated bsn in the philippines and an immigrant here in us just arrived two weeks ago. i am currently at illinois and i want to apply for nclex, but i was not able to take the nle at the philippines so i was advised to apply for ca nclex. but i heard that the ca bon are strict with their requirements. i worry about the duty hours or the rotations we had if it would be enough or not. and if somebody knows how long it would take to finish the process for applicaation in ca nclex? and what are the other state that does not require a foreign grad to have a licensefirst beforehe/she could take nclex? or is it advisable for me to go back to phil to take the nle first then if i pass then take the nclex? need help badly.

:( thankyou

You are not applying for NCLEX but license to be a RN in the US.

You are aware even if going to another state for initial license you may still be required to meet same requirements when endorsing to state you live in and plan to work in?

sad to say i am not aware of that, thank you for that silverdragon102. do you have any recommendations that can i do about this? for the endorsement of the request for transcript, is it supposed to be direct from the school? can't i just asked it form the CA BRN and pay the fee? cause there are these list of fees in the CA BRN site, the miscellaneous fee and there is this description for copy of school transcript. i really don't know what to do. thank you

I'm here in Illinois and I'm trying to endorse (reciprocity) my license (Missouri/ Michigan) to CA because family is going to help me get into a hospital.

All the info should be on their site (Board of Registered Nursing), or if you want the details up front you really have to call them. One thing that's keeping me is my transcripts from the Philippines.

Depending on when you got your PH degree you may be "safe" from the concurrency issue plaguing many of the recent PH nurses and grads, probably if you graduated prior to the 2004 year you might be okay, but nothing is for sure in CA these days.

Also, know that in CA, as long as you can provide them with the valid PH nursing license, that's a requirement due to it's a safe way for the CA BON to verify by name and license number that you're licensed in the Phils, due to fake applications being submitted.

In any case, you sholud know that if your transcripts don't pass the tougher CA BON requirements, it's money down the drain, since any fees paid is not refundable. Good luck!

You got me worried steppybay.... I graduated 2009 in the PH and passed my NCLEX 2011 at Missouri. And I DO NOT have a Philippines License, though CGFNS certified my credentials (CES) back in 2011 stating that it is equivalent to US course. I can't get a PH License because I'm an American Citizen.

Good news and bad news......

Good, as you can get a waiver from the PRC that states you're a USC and not able to take the local exam.

Bad, CA BON usually does their own evaluation if so, then the concurrency issue probably will deny the application. If however, CA BON accepts the credentials results, then you might have the "good news".

But if you can post back with your application's results and let's hope you're back in CA!
