Hi everybody
I am just wondering what you think of applicants with PD from late 2005? My PD is OCT24-05 and it seems FAR away from now.
I have been documentarly qualified since august-08 and on the list of those waiting for an available visa number.
Do you honestly think there will be any movements with the coming visa bulletins for all of us from year 2005?

Honest opinion? Nothing is going to open.
Which in disguise is actually a good thing. Reasons being is that the facility must sign documents for the US government that they have work for you at the time that the visa would be issued. Hospitals are having hiring freezes in place as well as lay-offs; if so, then they cannot start a new nurse coming over. Remember what you have is a job offer letter, it is not your hire date. That is the day that one starts their first day of work.
We are seeing RNs being laid off all over the country, so things are not looking good right now for you.
Next concern is that it is becoming more than difficult to get an apt or get a car at this time if you already do not have a credit history in the US as well.
Things are just not what they were a year ago or even less.

Not to mention that since the economy is very bad, even people with decent credit are having problems trying to obtain loans because the guidelines have gotten stricter....If my fellow classmates aren't being hired, I don't see how a foreign nurse is going to be hired over them.
I think it is time for the USCIS to announce what will happen in the future. If this is the end for nurses to immigrate they really should tell everybody involved. Alot of us has spent money on tests, travelling, license renewal,VSC etc etc so it's more than fair that they send out a press release regarding this subject.
Of course no one has forced us to do this and it is our own will but it would really matter to get it on paper.

I understand your feelings, but everyday new rules and regulations are being issued. The banks maybe taken over by the federal government. The government is going to be in the loan business. Our new President is doubling our troops to Afghanistan. A trillion dollars has been spent and nobody knows where the money is going.
Hospitals have been hit hard. Even if USCIS opened the doors there would be no jobs for IENs. The scary thing the news programs say this only the beginning and we have not hit bottom yet and may not for several years.
Immigration is under the US State Dept. We just have had Clinton appointed over the State Dept. There happen to be more pressing issues right now going on, whether or not a foreigner comes over here not or not is not high on the list; rather the safety of the country comes first. And she has been out of the country quite a bit lately.
And with the push to get Americans working again, then you are not going to see much happening in terms of green cards or anything else. Demand still far exceeds the supply. And expect it to get much worse rather than better.
They can't send out a press release since the new administration has not even gotten to this as of yet. There is nothing to announce.
But more importantly, usually when someone has a PD date from 2005, it means that there were issues along the line with either documents, attorney or employer; and not the fault of the US government. Everyone that has a PD date from that long ago had other issues involved or they would have been in the US quite awhile ago.
The retrogression has also been in place, this one, for more than two years already and not much in the way of movement. Last major crop of visas that were issued were in May, June of 2007.
