'Force feeding' at Guantanamo

Is this torture? I would have to think so, especially since many of the prisoners being held there have not been convicted of a crime.

Every time the media covers this story, it's always a nurse administering the feeding. What is this doing to the integrity of our profession?

If the military wishes to move forward with these practices, they should leave nurses out of the picture. And of course, military nurses should refuse to take part in such behavior.

Did you really just resurrect your own 5-year-old thread?

Hahaha, you'd be right. I have not been very active over the years.

You say 'the military doesn't need you'...okay, like I agree, they don't need me as an individual, but as a whole, they require the support of tax payers, civilians, etc.

What the military actually needs -- at least to grow and thrive and continue receiving nearly 3/4 of a trillion dollar budget -- is a scared public to justify their job. They need a vast majority of Americans to be complicit in co-signing the fake narrative that the US is the arbiter of conflict around the world, and unquestionably the 'good guy'. I happen to not be one of these people.

I quickly raise my hand to increase the chances that I'm blown to bits by a terrorist, in replace of my country continually dropping bombs on poor countries while failing to care for those at home.

I'm thankful for the time I served my country and to those who are willing to do the same despite those who don't have the testicular fortitude to do the same but would ridicule in the same breath. What ever your reasons to serve this country, you are making a choice of sacrifice that most can't or are unwilling to make and you will forever have my respect for it.

This diatribe has what to do with with the original thread? Your lack of understanding of why the military is needed has no bearing on reality. You can debate military budget and terrorism all day long, but until you have spent time in Afghanistan and/or Iraq you truly will never have a clue about why the US military is needed to fight terrorism abroad.
