What were your average scores? I got it yesterday and have taken it twice. Both times it shut off at 75 and said I have a 94% chance of passing. I am using Suzanne4's system and have been for 3 weeks now, but I wanted to take an actual CAT to gauge my progress. (I haven't received my ATT yet, so I anticipate taking the NCLEX mid-late July)
Thanks in advance!

I loved the CAT -- the questions were right in line with what was on the NCLEX, too, so as far as what to anticipate and the rationales for studying, it's all good in my book.
It did, however, take me 160+- questions to pass the NCLEX. But, pass, I did, and I imagine if I hadn't started freaking out as the number of questions grew I probably would have been able to prove myself with fewer questions. So don't let it get to you if you happen to hit question #76 or even #100 ... the higher the numbers went the harder it was for me to focus on anything but what number I was on!! I'm sure that hurt me a lot.
It's really important not to get hung up on that number. I'd be willing to bet a fair number of people who fail at the higher numbers do so for that very reason!
Also, once I got my ATT there was actually one test center (the one I ended up going to) which had test dates available the very next day. I decided to give myself a week. I almost wish I had just gone and done it!
Thanks for the response! I too am considering taking it sooner than later once I get my ATT. I start my new job on 7/10 and I know that the first two weeks are full time days for orientation before I start precepting, so that would put me at a minimum until 7/25. I don't think I could handle the stress!

Flowerchick,
I did the Mosby CAT...took it a few times and always got 75 questions. Sometimes it would say 99% chance, other times 94%. I took the NCLEX Monday...got 75 questions and passed. The one thing I did notice on the NCLEX that was different....they don't just do ABC's, they'll make you choose between two "A" patients. I had at least 10 (probably more) choose all that apply and I got many, many priority questions. I got zero calculations questions. I got several infection control and several psych drugs. The Mosby CAT is a great tool, if for nothing else...confidence! BTW, I left feeling like the test was NOT difficult. Don't be surprised if you feel the same way. But...I also knew that priority/choose all that apply were a good sign. I may not have felt so good about it if I had a different mix. Hope this was helpful!

Very helpful! Thanks, May!

hi peps in this thread! just want to ask - mosby cat meaning the book, cd? or what? thanks for the enlightenment!! :)
Mosby CAT is an online test you can purchase access to for 30 days...it is computer adaptive and is supposed to simulate NCLEX as well as give a prediction score (predicts your chances of passing NCLEX). It's $40...WARNING...it takes forever to figure out how to get signed in...I did it and I still cannot explain how. After I did it for a week, I sold it to a friend who is doing it for a week and now she is selling it for someone else to use for a week, so we each paid about $15.
Good luck to all of you!

May,
Have you taken your boards yet? If so did you think the Mosby CAT online helped? I'm getting ready to buy it and just wanted to get some opinions about it..
Thanks,
GA

Yes, I took it Monday....75 questions...passed.
Did Mosby CAT help? I don't know if I learned anything new, but it sure made me feel better when it said I had a 99% chance of passing! I certainly would not use this test for primary study. Maybe a tool to let you know your study is effective????
Best of luck,

Thanks..I think i'm going to get it..I've been doing the Saunders CD for 2 weeks and just going back to review certain things in my books..I'm trying to do as many questions as I can..How did you study??
I am a studier...not so much for the NCLEX, but for every test in nursing school. I contacted Suzanne last semester and started doing the Suanders CD questions. I consistently got above 75, so I stopped "studying for the NCLEX" after about a week. I used Mosby CAT just to make sure I wasn't full of myself by thinking I didn't need to study. Anyway, I figured if ERI, HESI-Exit, and Mosby CAT all said I had a 99% chance of passing, I would be a statistical anomaly if I failed. I really don't think I'm alone...I know plenty of people that passed without "studying".

Thanks..I'm like that too..We used the ATI in nursing school and before every test I would do the questions that pertained to the things we were being tested on. I just hope I'm doing the right thing with just doing questions..I am studying some to..just things that I didn't seem to be getting when doing the questions..
Thanks for your help,
