For Those With Children...

Published

how old were your kids when you went to nursing school? I have a 6 year old son, 4 year old daughter, 1 year old son and am expecting our last baby this Dec.

I still have all my pre reqs to take and was thinking i would start those maybe next Sept (2006) and just take a class or two at a time. Alot of the classes i can take right online which is great for me.

For those who went to school while their kids were young, do you wish you had waited until they were older?

Thank you,

Cheryl

I should have finished college first but love, marriage and kids came first. So my two were 6 and 4 when I returned.I was 2 weeks short of 30 when I graduated.

It is truly a "mission organization" to manage all the irons in the fire, but it is worth it.

my kids were 4, 3 and under 1 yr.

i never felt more split as they wanted to play w/me as soon as i got home.

the baby would crawl to me, wanting to be picked up.

it was horrible not to be able to spend time w/them-always focused on homework....for close to 3 yrs.

in hindsight, it certainly doesn't seem they were deprived. but i missed out on some milestone developments w/my youngest- his 1st steps, his first words.....ahhhh, can't look back. bottom line is don't let the guilt get to you- your kids will be just fine, as much as we like to think we're indispensible. :chuckle
