For the new crop of CPNE study-ers ....

Just a tip about practicing your grid: get yourself an 8.5x11-sized erasable white board and use it to practice making grids. I wrote the different AOCs on pieces of paper and would draw 3 or 4 of them at random out of a baggie, then make a grid. It was helpful -- I could do my grid in my sleep by the time my CPNE rolled around. Haha ... it was 3 years ago TODAY that I completed my CPNE, how funny.

I am enjoying seeing you all get to this point! This is why I still visit the EPN, too. It's highly addictive to watch people succeed, especially when you understand the stress yourself.

Speaking of, I came upon your journal and the notes that you and Ivan posted and wanted to say a big THANK YOU! I printed them and put them in my binder. Your notes are flawless and your journal was so nice to read. Did you use risk for injury for all your PCS's? I really like how you broke the careplanning down and I was thinking of doing the same thing to just keep it simple. I am definately happy that you available as such an awesome resource for all of us :-)

I'm glad it was helpful, and I'll pass the compliment along to Ivan as well. :) I kept my journal as I went along during my weekend so I could get in as many details as possible!! Yeah, I kept my careplans very simple!! Your assignments on the Kardex will be a big clue -- if you're assigned something like respiratory management, think respiratory diagnoses ... that kind of thing.

I just sent in my first PCS scenario with careplan and narrative notes to EC. I am hoping they can give me some feed back that I am on the right direction. It really is helpful to write out a grid even with a fake patient. I just hope I don't take too much of my time up doing that. Thanks again!

Wow how I remember those days only a year ago but seems so long ago already .

I could not remember those dang pneumonics they just messed me up more.

I was nervous and unsucessful my first go around in December of 2009 but did just fine in March 2010 .and all my other fellow test takers passed too that weekend !!!!

I made a paper out with all needed assements that i kept in front of me for the whole 6 months before I tested and those assesment tools have stuck in my mind even to this day .

I passed my study tool onto another LPN taking excelsior plan of study so she could hopefully get some use out of it too .

If you are like me and cant get the pneumonics remember you can take your drug book and your nursing care planning book with you ,you can highlight but not write in these.

This memorization will stick with you it still helps me to this day .

Just find what works for you I had looked at my paper so much I could picture it in my mind during my CPNE .:yeah:

Now if i just could get remotivaed to go for my BSN next

Okay, well at least i know what it is when the time comes, i am getting ready for ls 2 now and like Lunah said, i will focus on the task at hand. thanks. :yeah:
