I did an acid-fast test today for the Unknown.....one of my bugs came up red after the acid fast staining and the other blue. The red one is the shape of a cocci but as far as I know acid fast bacteria are bacilli.....are there any acid fast cocci? The only acid fast bacteria that we have learned about are mycobacterium (bacilli) and Corynebacterium pseudodiphterium which is 0 shaped.
BTW it was a nightmare to get started with this Unknown and I am really disturbed by the whole experience.
Of course you will! Let us know what your redo shows come Monday. :)
I will let you know, I am also very worried that I contaminated my broth. There was so much commotion in the lab. We are all shaky with the procedures....I dislike this lab so much because we never have a chance to get comfortable with any of what we have to do because of a lack of time. So far everything has been too wishy washy and I am not even aware of myself if I make a mistake. I never expected the lab to cause me that much grief, after all tests, quizzes etc I am close to 100% and I can't see myself getting screwed over in this lab. It would be ridiculous! I did ok in the Chem labs and we always had enough time.
I always feel super rushed during lab also. It seems he talks forever and gives us a laundry list of things to do and not enough time. As far as the cells being dead or dying I think that just happens, I dont think it is anything you did. Good LuckAmber
Thank you, I won't give up and I am sure I'll crack the code on this
