Following up on application with nurse manager.

I submitted an application for a position about two weeks ago. I called human resources today to follow-up and the administrator told me she forwarded my resume to the hiring manager and should hear back soon about people she should bring in for interviews. Should I wait and see if I'm one of these people, or should I call the nurse manager about the position? I don't want to push too hard but I really want this particular job. I did a clinical here and truly loved it. I thought if I talked to the nurse manager about it, it may increase my chances of her remembering me when it comes time to interview, but at the same time I don't want her to feel like I'm overbearing. If you think it's okay to contact her, what should I say? I know what the floor is like because I spent 7 weeks on it. Do I just tell her I wanted her to know I'm really interested and was wondering if she would consider a new graduate for the position?

You can absolutely send a note to the manager, especially if you know her, expressing interest in the position. Keep it positive, brief but expressing your desire to work on her unit and with her nursing staff.

It seems that nursings is becoming increasingly competitive. If you want this job, then go for it. Good luck.

I was thinking more of calling. I haven't had an interview yet.

One call after about a week is appropriate to express your interest.
