FNP review classes

I purchased the Fitzgerald CDs and study guide from her website. I've heard if you are going to attend the live workshops to make sure it is actually presented by her and not one of her colleagues. I guess some people have not had the greatest experience with some of the lectures. I listened to about the 6th CD and couldn't do it anymore. I needed something else to review.

I lurked around the boards here and read other NP's advice. I just passed the ANCC FNP exam on my first try and 75% of my studying was through familynpprep.com. The exams are so close to the real exams that it's scary! The explanations provide great information to answer questions that are similar but not exactly the same. I would highly, highly recommend!

I attended a Fitzgerald Review 3 day live course... 2 actually. They had sessions where I attend college so I got to go fairly cheap both times. Neither was presented by Margaret but both of the presenters were fantastic. The days got to be long but they really helped me figure out where my weaknesses lie, so that I can focus on those areas to study for boards. The presenters are working NPs too so they had a lot of great real-life examples and could answer any questions without a problem.

I HIGHLY recommend the APEA review course with Amelie Hollier, http://www.apea.com. The information is presented in a very understandable and interesting way. You'll wonder why your classes weren't taught like this. Attend a class or listen to the CDs, either way, this is a great review program. I started listening to (but didn't finish even one of) the Fitzgerald review programs also, but found the APEA lectures much easier to follow and more logically presented. It's probably just a matter of taste and learning styles as to which one is right for you.

took the Ancc and didn't pass. Thinking about the aanp and didnt know where to begin with preparing myself.

do you feel like the questions were the same on the board as they were on that website?

I really liked Barkley's (Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) Live Courses and Home Study Packages | Barkley & Associates) and then I filled it in with the data from NP Student (NP Student - Pediatric Provider Resources - Home). I just passed last month and was baffled by the amount of cross-over on the material.

The other thing I *highly* recommend is doing the practice tests. Those saved me.

I used several resources because not everyone covers everything. Sometimes I understood something better from one person and not the other. Just depends on how much time you have and how you learn best. I studied for about 3 months. I passed both AANP and ANCC on the first try. I definitely think it was worth it all!
