Hello I am currently a student at Frontier Nursing University and looking for a primary care preceptor for clinicals starting Mid-October. I am located in Knoxville, TN. Preceptors for Frontier Nursing University get a variety of benefits. Please any help or guidance would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Have you checked with your school about facilities that already have field site agreements? My school provided a list of previously used facilities, which made the search for a preceptor much easier. I would utilize resources through the school before reaching out on an anonymous nursing message board.

Frontier provides a list of preceptors used by past students. I will advise you to ask the school for the site and go over it with a fine tooth comb. If you do t find anything there, you will have to do some leg work also.

As honeykrown mentioned, using the list of past facilities and past preceptors is a good place to start. Have you joined the state NP organization? Regional ones? Any Facebook groups for your region's NPs? Have you talked to providers you work with or know through professional contacts? Another good way of networking is to talk to your RN friends, see whom they know that might either precept or know of NPs in their practices that might precept. This is your time to be an extrovert, go forth and network! Another good networking tool is the frontier alumni network, there are sure to be many Frontier alumni in the area who might be willing to help you by either precepting you or giving you contacts and introductions to someone who might precept you. Finally, contacting your RCF and discussing options they know about is another good place, but expect them to ask you what you have already done, they want you to put in the effort first.
Also remember that when you talk to someone and they say they can't precept you, the next question should be do they know of anyone you could contact who might be able to precept you. Just because they aren't the final answer, doesn't mean you don't keep mining them for help (politely of course).
Good luck!
Thank you all--the feedback was helpful
