Hi everyone- I'm new to this website!. I am suppose to be taking my FNP ANCC exam next week and am seriously thinking about changing to a later date. I thought I was doing really good with reviewing, but now I feel like I know nothing. I was mostly using the Fitzgerald info- I have the CDs, her review book, and I went to the course. Felt really good about everything and the info, and then I started doing questions from other books by Zerwehk and another by Hollier ,and I feel like I know nothing. So many of the topics and disease processes discussed were never covered by Fitzgerald. I came from not a great NP program, so I don't have a great background coming into this. Am I flipping out over nothing? I always see everyone recommending the Fitzgerald course and material. Any feedback anyone can offer would be a hugh help. I am sooo anxious over this test!

Hi,

I just took the ANCC FNP exam this afternoon (and passed!), and found the Fitzgerald materials to be the most relevant to what was on the test. Concentrate on learning general principles and not on specific drugs and obscure diseases. Don't spend time doing millions of questions, again, look at common problems affecting the different body systems, and general principles of diagnosis and treatment.

I honestly thought this test was much easier than NCLEX. You could usually eliminate two answer choices right off the bat, and then use what you've learned along with common sense to figure out the best choice. There were no trick questions. Try not to read into the questions, you'll have all the info you need right in front of you.

I was really nervous, too, and didn't think I knew anything. Happily, I was wrong, and you probably will be too. Take a deep breath, it will be ok.

Best of luck to you, and let us know how it turns out.

Oh, funny Violet. I just posted virtually the same thing. Seriously--M.F., I got it. Hollier--a little tougher.

BCgrad, that's nice to know.

RELAX, Take a deep breath. You do know what you need to know. The same thought ran through my mind as well. Picture the computer screen saying passed, feel how good it feels for all your hard work paying off. You really can do it. Good luck, NAW, you don't need it. Enjoy the test, it will be okay.
