Oh, interesting! Well, the "office manager" gave me a list of insurances they are working with, and Medicare was not on it, so I'm assuming I don't have to be. I will have to ask that question now though.

Is it the same for other insurance besides Medicare? The office is a pediatric practice, so I don't think Medicare will be an issue.

Ok, so since I posted I was able to complete the CAQH form and there are a few companies accessing that as far as I know. The office has been alittle bit of a help, but the bulk of it is on me. The office manager basically gave a me spreadsheet of their insurances to call or contact to get info for credentialing. I have been doing this and am probably most of the way through. It's so exhausting though! This is a very small office, so I am not getting a ton of help, and I am alittle bothered by this. It's sounds like, until all my credentialing through, the physician could sign off on my charts in the meantime so that the practice gets paid? Am I getting this right? And that is legal? Hi everyone- I'm hoping I can get some insight here. I know this kind of goes along with another post that was posted about Medicare. I am a newly licensed NP and may have found a job with a physician at a Pediatric office. The trouble is, he will not sign a contract with me nor consider me an employee until I have all my insurance credentialing done so they could paid for patients that I see. So I've started the process, but it is so mentally exhausting. I finally got a CAQH ID and have started filling out that application. Someone today from Cigna told me though that I still need to contact each individual insurance company that the office is with to credential with them. This office had about 20 different companies that they are contracted with. I've also heard credentialing can take 60-90 days. I really don't want to wait 60-90 days to maybe sign a contract with him, and I am currently working at a hospital as a per diem RN which has been difficult to get hours. I need to work. I'm thinking about just bailing on him and finding something else, anything else. Even if it's something I'm not completely happy with, but could tolerate for atleast a year. Does anyone have any advise or words of wisdom? Anyways around this billing issue until my credentialing comes through that is legal? It's a small office, so I don't think they want to sit on bills for months before they can submit them for me.I have never heard of anyone else having this problem when getting their first NP job. I hope this rambling makes sense, I'm just really frustrated.

Thanks everyone. I am so relieved to be done. I studied for a good seven weeks before taking the exam. I have a couple of classmates that aren't taking the exam until next month and they started studying the same time I did. If I remember correctly, the Fitzgerald course said to allow atleast six weeks to prepare. The best piece of advice I got though is wait to do practice tests until the end. This is not the kind of test where you learn how to to answer the questions like the NCLEX, this test tests your actual knowledge base. Study the material first, then do practice exams the last week before you take the test to see where you may need to focus your studying more. Good luck. Hope this helped.

I have a blackberry curve that I got as a graduation gift to replace my old Palm PDA. I am so much happier. I only had my palm PDA a for about a year, but was really unhappy with how limited it was. There is definitely a learning curve going from system to system though. Epocrates works great on the blackberry and skyscape has lots of great programs that are compatible with blackberry too. I know the iphones and itouch had alot of fans, but I was trying to consoliate to one device and my cell phone carrier Verizon, does not have the Iphone yet. Hope this helps.

Hi, everyone. I'm the one last week that was flipping out about the ANCC FNP exam. Well, I passed today! I am sooo happy! It was definitely a fair test. Nothing way out there question wise, but there were quite a few things that I was expected that I didn't see (like not very many vaccine questions). I think someone said to review the ANA standards of nursing, and that is good advise. Fitzgerald's CDs were good, and Leik's review book was also very helpful. Thank you all for your help!

Hey Kan- since we are in the same boat here, I wanted to tell you about a couple of things I found out. Passing for ANCC is about 70%, so if you are getting 78% on your practice exams then you are doing fine. One of my preceptors whom I keep in touch with said the ANCC is almost identical to Hollier questions. I know you said that the Hollier book was frustrating you too. I got desperate and purchased Leik's FNP Intensive review. They had recommended it in Margaret Fitzgerald's class. It is really helpful, and the Hollier questions make alot more sense. Hi everyone- I'm new to this website!. I am suppose to be taking my FNP ANCC exam next week and am seriously thinking about changing to a later date. I thought I was doing really good with reviewing, but now I feel like I know nothing. I was mostly using the Fitzgerald info- I have the CDs, her review book, and I went to the course. Felt really good about everything and the info, and then I started doing questions from other books by Zerwehk and another by Hollier ,and I feel like I know nothing. So many of the topics and disease processes discussed were never covered by Fitzgerald. I came from not a great NP program, so I don't have a great background coming into this. Am I flipping out over nothing? I always see everyone recommending the Fitzgerald course and material. Any feedback anyone can offer would be a hugh help. I am sooo anxious over this test!
