I took an intermittent FMLA to care for a family member. I returned to work last week, I am not on the new schedule for my regular amount of hours. I only had one day scheduled and I picked up one more day. However my employer is unable to give me a set schedule like I had prior. Does the law protect me? Does my employer need to provide me with as many hours as I was getting? I will still need days off but if I have my set schedule back I would be able to work around it but so far they are avoiding giving me a set schedule with enough hours.
The dilema? Not only do I now care for my dying mother but I am not getting enough $$$ to pay my bills. I want to work while I can work. Thanks for any advice

Thanks again everybody for the good thoughts. I have worked at the place about 20 months, It has FMLA with enough employees. I filled out the right paperwork for interminttent fmla - the hr guy said that would be best for me because my sister helps out with my mom, he said if I called off then I can't get in trouble for a last min. call off. I come back after a week and literally I get all the crap hours. I told my administrator last week I can't live like this, I Have to have my hours in advance (not calling me the night before and asking me to come in) I was hired as full time, I deserve my hours. I told the HR guy this is illegal and he said "I know it is" I guess they are going to have a "meeting" All I know is I get so irritated when you go out of your way for a company and in the end they just don't care. Just disappoints me.
