I just started my 2nd semester a week ago...low and behold our welcome back started with fluid and electrolyte imbalances!

I have read the chapter in the book and retained...eh, not so much!

I have heard of the book Fluid & Electrolytes Made Incredibly Easy and am just wondering if anyone else has referred to that...and if so, comments?

I have my exam in two weeks that includes this material, so I would love some input. I feel that the book is way to dry and need to find another means of covering this material (and actually understanding it)!

I am only in funds now and not at fluids and electrolytes, but everyone around me recommends that book so I say go for it! It can't hurt and it has good reviews on amazon.

I have read and own a few ... blah blah Made Incredibly Easy books. I think those books are very good at simplifying concepts and making them easier to learn. Depending on the reader, however, I found they can also be kinda patronizing and annoying. If you feel that your textbook is too dry, Incredibly Easy will be more helpful, I'm sure.

Students tend to struggle with fluid and electrolytes a lot. I strongly recommend going over the basic concepts and make sure you understand the principles: diffusion, osmosis, oncotic pressure vs. hydrostatic pressure, how respiration and buffer system regulate acids and bases. Not just for the exam, but it makes understanding various disease processes so much better.

Wishing you the best!

There are plenty of tutorials out there. I would skip the book. Check you books website I bet they hae one with annimations. I drew a big ole cell and put what is inside the cell and what is outside the cell. In the begining you just need to memorize the stuff, but then as you continue to learn nursing it comes up and eventually you just know them all. You will need them for the rest of your career. It tough stuff and I think I got a B on the test, but now at this point being in my last semester I know them all.
