flu shots job

Published

I was wondering if any of you have worked at an immunization clinic giving flu shots? There was an ad for a temp position about a month ago that I applied to and they called to set up an interview, but I never called them back. They just called again, but I'm not sure I will have the time for another job, plus the hours probably won'nt fit in my schedule. You see my full-time job is 6P-6A and I work 2 on, 2 off, 3 on, 3 off, ect. My second job is prn and I was getting a couple days a month (which is about what I need), but there has'nt been any openings lately so I thought this job might be worth considering. It does pay very good for an LPN, but it may be a little bit more of a drive than I'm used to. I'm also not sure if they would work with me as far as hours and days as I would want to only do it in evenings a couple nights a week if possible and I'm sure its probably usually done on first shift.

You work your schedule out with the employer. Depending on how they are set up, you can work four or five hour shifts, or 7 hours in the morning, afternoon, or at evening clinics and on weekends. If you need to leave early or arrive late (provided there is a second nurse at the clinic site), you can probably arrange that also. You just have to talk to them about what you can and can not do. Good luck.

That does'nt sound bad. What about the work? I'm assuming its mostly giving the shots. I have'nt done many injections lately as I've been working in an assisted living facility and have only done a few IM's since I was in school. I'm sure its pretty easy though once you do a few of them...

Specializes in LTC.

I just signed up to give flu shots today. I have a parttime job and starting another prn job for LTC. This is a seasonal position so I thought I'd make some extra money on the side. Pay isnt too bad either ! Love being a nurse.... can always do little gigs on the side to bring in some extra mula !
