Ok I see that are quite a few Floridians here!! Hopefully with a great deal of studying and determination I will graduate in December of this year with my LPN. What I want to know is if I decide to move to Florida in the future will this transfer over to any nursing schools there so that I can complete my RN? Can't think of anything better than living in Florida right now!!!

We have ADN transition programs here. If you take your pre req's the clinical time can be one year.

Best way to find out is to call.

Hey thanks Barb, do you know what type of pre req's they require, and how about a waiting list? I was on this one for 2 years! I guess what I worry about is that I'll have to take my Chemistry and A&P all over again! I've taken Nutrition, Human Development, Math Applied to Pharmacology, Composition and Technical Writing which all lead to the ADN here, I think the only one I'll need to take is Sociology or Pysch. The way I understand it, is that since I am already in the LPN program, I can't at this time go on the waiting list for the RN, and if the wait is going to be another 2 years................oh well! Any other information you have is appreciated.

Seems to my you have a lot covered, Just the sciences I guess. I gave you Miami Dade because it is the largest CC in the state.

Here is the web site to the school of Nursing, Have fun:

Here's a link to the state mandated prereqs

I'm pretty positive these state-mandated prereqs are the same for any Florida RN program (2 year or 4 year - just of course for the BSN you have other general ed stuff in addition). Some programs will let you finish them up after starting the RN program and some won't (my school made us show that we had them all done before starting).

I know nothing....and am in limbo myself but the science courses are something to worry about.

I know that here at least one school I've looked at requires the courses (ap 1, ap 2 and micro) to be no older than 5 yrs old at the time of APPLICATION...

the "at time of application" is what is saving my A## now.....

so I would look into that before making a decision about moving..

another option... my school is offering a "refresher" course that is a mix of all 3 of the sciencs prereq's and is considered 'acceptable" instead of retaking them over if the 5yrs has passed.

oh and another note... it doesn't matter if your an LVN or not at the time...those courses still can't be more than 5yrs old here... so I HAVE to apply THIS year and be accepted or I'll have to do the refresher ...which I heard is a B#$(#).

gl!

Well it does look like I do have the majority of the courses each of these schools requires, aside from the Psych. Like I said I won't be thinking about moving there for at least another year, and I have had my A&P probably 7 years ago!! Thanks to all of you for your replies, seems like Florida is alot like Delaware, which is good to know.
