if anyone got into um nursing program post here. :redpinkhe introduce yourself!

I asked Ms. Cabrera about this yesterday and she said that is definitely not the case. She said people do drop but she can usually count them on one hand and with the accelerated program she has not seen very many at all.

Hey BH8844 I was wondering where you've been! Maybe 75 were accepted but not everyone went and of those who did attend 55 graduated? I'm not sure but I do know that if you get below a B- in a class you are asked to leave (nicely kicked out), at least that's how it was in 07-08.

Hey, Yes I know.. lol.. When I do not have class I do not go on the computer much! I think its if you get below a c that is failing. But, you do not get kicked out of the program if you fail one class. You get held back but then if you fail another nursing course you get sent to the committee and they make a decision. If you fail a course you do not get kicked out right away. I think UM tries really hard to work with you.

I'm just concerned because after talking to a few of the students in the program (I saw a few people hanging out in front of the school one day) I understand that the teachers don't necessary teach you what is going to be on the final. The final is the HESI, and the students said that you need to study both what the teachers teach, AND get separate books for the HESI.

I"m losing hair already!!!

I'm looking forward to your party Swiminktaz......I guess I have 3 weeks to get myself into bikini-shape HAHAHA

yea bh8844 i can imagine after having on line classes the computer doesn’t seem too intriguing. i'm glad you told me about how they handle an unsatisfactory grade, i was thinking it was much worse than it actually is. i think each year they are getting better too since the accelerated program is relatively new (i think?) i'm sure they're always ways trying to improve the program.

i think the program has also changed and has recently become more directed towards the nclex since our pass rate was a little low (compared to other fl schools) a few years back. i heard most of the tests are given as computer format to help us get acclimated with the nclex test format. the hesi however i don't know anything about but i'm sure as long as you are dedicated and studying your you know what off then you won't have to worry... i would think it should be the same information just maybe presented a different way? a friend of mine has suggested a few (hesi) study books that have great practice questions -- so late night study groups here i come!!

umashtangi - did i email you an invite? i feel like i don't have your email addy yet?? o no you mean i only have 3 weeks... gym here i come!! lol

Hey everyone! I guess the clock is ticking and we only have two short months til' we get started. I will not be at the pool party:cry: because I will be in Maryland visiting my Dad for spring break. I look forward to meeting everyone and hope you have another get together before school starts. I am sure the program is hard but we will make it through together!!!

Oh ICE that's too bad! I actually stop working full time at the end of April so I'll have tons of free time in May before the program starts even if it's just meeing up for coffee or lunch or something. Have fun in MD... hopefully it won't still be so cold up there by then!! How's the apt search going?

We looked on Wednesday and found a place. There are alot of studios and efficiencies that are very reasonable. They are already furnished and within walking or biking distance of the campus. Most include wireless internet, electric, cable, etc.

Has everyone started getting their background check in order?

yes, I sent mine off two weeks ago. How about immunizations? I still have my second TB test to do and then I am finished.

i haven't gotten anything in the mail about doing a background check. when did you guys receive that? i also got a studio about a mile from campus. I found it on UM's off campus website...there is some reasonable stuff on there if that helps.

You'll find it on the UM Nursing website under "Current Students" then "Clinical Screening."

Some of us are getting concerned when we read of all this celebration here!! I have not heard if I am or I am not accepted!! Did any of you apply the regular decision date (March 1st) and has hopes of getting accepted?
