SPC Nursing Fall 2018

Hey Everyone!

Thought I would be the first person to start a SPC Nursing Fall 2018 thread. Even though we still have one semester left before applying, I thought I would start a thread to get the ball rolling and to see where everyone stands. If are applying for the program in Fall of 2018, please let us know the amount of credits you will have at the time of applying and what your cumulative and program GPA's are. As for me, I will have 30 of 30 credits completed and a cumulative GPA of 3.9, with a program GPA of 4.0.

Hey everyone just applied!!!! I was wondering if anyone currently in the program can give any advise on the first semester of the program. I have a 3.952 program GPA and was basically told I was a shoe-in so I'm trying to look forward and figure out the next step.

Hey, I was told to get Saunder's Comprehensive Review for the NCLEX-RN Examination. I thought it was a book full of nclex style questions, but it's actually most of what we will be learning in nursing school and will help us study. Of course, it has questions too, but someone said it was super helpful throughout nursing school. The 7th edition is $58.09 on Amazon, so it's kind of pricey but I think it might be worth it. Just wanted to let you guys know!

can anyone give a list of what is included in the skills kit? I've looked at so many post and can't find a list

Definitely go in and talk to an advisor they can tell you wether or not you are missing anything. I had everything done but one of my classes wasn't showing up in their program. The advisor was very helpful and got it taken care of. If I didn't go in and have them take care of it there is a good chance I would have been past over for this coming semester.

I have no idea what is included in the skills kit but if we get it at the school, I am sure the campus bookstore would be able to provide you with that information. If you find out, let us know! I also sat with an advisor and it looks like I have everything I need. One thing I did not know is that you need an A.A. to get into the BSN program. I really thought you just needed the A.S. in nursing, so this summer I am taking American national government, college algebra and introduction to humanities. I just want to get those out of the way now.

I think the skills kit has IV bags, enema's, etc. I'm taking Comp 2, human nutrition, and developmental psychology over the summer because I plan on going to USF for the bachelors. It takes too much time going through SPC.

Do you need an A.A. along with the nursing A.S. degree to go to USF? I wanted to apply to USF, FSU, and UF for their online RN to BSN programs as well.

No, you do not need the AA to apply for the RN to BSN program at USF. You need to have Comp II completed before applying and then Chemistry, Micro, developmental psychology, and a few other classes, but you can take those as you are doing the core nursing classes. They just have to be completed upon graduation. It takes too long going through SPC to get the bachelor's.

Hi everyone! I'm going to be applying to HCC, PHSC & SPC nursing programs for the spring 2019 start. I am having trouble finding on the SPC website what the required prereqs are for the A.S prgram. I am taking A&P 1 & micro now and will be taking A&P 2 this summer. I have a little over 40 credits so I'm hoping i've taken the other required courses. Thanks!!

Just go to the A.S. Nursing page on the SPC website. It lists the pre-reqs. They are 30 credits overall.
