Not sure if its easy to transfer but I know their pay sucks! I have been a nurse for 2 years on a progressive care unit and applied for a similar floor @ Florida hospital (I'm relocating). They wanted to offer me 22.67 for a progressive care floor with 4 patients and no techs!! I was like are u serious??? So now I've accepted a position @ ORMC on a med surg floor. Their night shift diff is great. Florida hospital only pays a % for nights.

Hi, I work at Fl. Hospital. Can I ask a few questions about ORMC? What is the pay there-I mean for day shift with 2 years experience? Is it similar?
And what is the night shift at ORMC. Because Fl. Hospitals night shifts make about 35% more than days so I was just wondering.
How many patients do you get on med surge at ORMC 4 or 5? And do you have a tech?
They are suposedly getting rid of techs at Fl. Hospital this is true but I don't think it will last.
As far as the OPs questions regarding moving around to different floors I believe you have to work on the floor that you are hired on for 6 months then you can transfer. But of course you have to have a good record. I have a co-worker who hated a floor and had a bad attendance record and she had trouble transfering due to this.
Night shift diff id as follows for ORMC: 7p-11p is $4.50, 11p-7am is $9.75 and weekend is $3.60. Florida hospital told me the shift diff is 13% to 16% of your pay (was offered 22.67 for 2 years exp). I have my AND so maybe they pay more for a bachelors.
The floor I interviewed for was a neuro progressive care unit. So when the hiring manager said that I would have 4 neuro patients (stroke=total care) with no techs I souldnt believe it. At ORMC there are techs and u get 5 patients sometimes 6 on a med surg floor.

Ok thanks for the info. But is the base pay similar-you said $22.67 at Fl Hosp-what is the day shift rate at ORMC?
Yeah I know that neuro floor, and they had techs or still do have but phasing out? and that would be a nightmare without a tech.
But honestly I would rather have 4 patients without techs than 6 with a tech. 6 patients is too many IMO.
Good luck to you!

I just accepted a job with FL hospital as a new grad BSN and base pay for GN is 22.08 (12 hours), 15% differential for nights, and 13% for weekends. After orientation differentials for nights go to 35%. PCU neuro has techs and 4:1 to 5:1 ratio.

I'm curious to know if you become employed with Florida Hospital is it easy to move around within the hospital? As in transferring to a different type of unit?
