In the Florida Hospital system some hospitals run better than others. Nurses who transfer between the hospitals comment on how different their experiences are. So it's hard to make a blanket statement of good or bad. Do realize that if they are paying a sign on bonus it is because there is a critical need for nurses. The good news is they are trying to fill the need, the bad news is staffing isn't always so great while they work on it.
I wonder if hospitals offering this kind of bonus actually do anything to try to "fix" the problems. I would question the quality of nursing management and I would want to know non nursing admins attitude towards nurses. What is the vacancy rate? What is turnover? Do they offer the bonus because they know the nurse will never meet the requirements to receive it? I don't think they give you the bonus the day you arrive. I don't know, it just seems to me it would end up being a terrible place to work.
I also heard that they don't have techs/aides/CNA's there? I work in SNF as charge nurse (desk nurse/admin) we do have CNAs but in acute care settings such as hospital like in PCU/TCU/CCU/MS how come no techs, and if there is, they only have 1 for like 15 patients? How come. Is FL really in shortage??
