Florida Board Punishing Foreign Nurses!!

World International

Hi:

I heard from many of my collegues that, if you are a foreing nurse and you take the NCLEX through another state than FL. Once you try to do the endorsement to that state, they will "punish" you asking to work in the state you first get the lisence for 2 years before you can reapply for endorsement. This is not only a rumor. I actually KNOW more than 2 nurses moving to another state for 2 years because they took the NCLEX through New Mexico (and they even bought houses in Miami!) I've been trying to obtain my endorsement for 8 months now and so far they are requesting me the same. Is this punishment legal? Is the Board of FL allmigthy against the professionals? Any feedback?

Moving this to the International forum, will also correct the spelling in the title

Is it documented on their website?

Just looked on their website and can not see anything indicating this 'punishment' You may require CES doing if foreign nurse including for endorsement and you haven't already had it done and report sent to them

It's not documented. It's just happening. It's a fact. The evaluation office Josef Silny & associates has changed "the way they see the credentials". The graduated nurses from other countrie's Institutes (Colleges), are getting an evaluation as "High Schools". I'm a graduate from a Politechnical Institute of Health, where you attend after you finish 12 grade. An Institute is not a High School, it's a COLLEGE. Untill April 2006, those evaluators gave those very same credentials a very high standard. It seems that they (the board and Josef Silny) have had an agreement about this changing all. I get all the information from the official web page of nursing from my country (with the explanation of how many years, hours of studies, subjects. The preparation, capabilities and roles this nurses have) and gave to the evaluators proving them wrong. They sent me a letter saying how many years of experience and how many diplomas they have, refusing to change the evaluation. I requested a meeting with them and they never accepted to meet me. (Fear to face the truth?). Then I wrote a letter to the Board explining them what was happening to me. They answered very confident with the solution: Go to work for 2 years to the state where you get the lisence.

I'm not saying it will be posted on their page. It's done in silence. Nurses are going through another states because FL ask too many requeriments others states don't. FL it's getting upset @ them because of that. They say after 2 years, ther can re-apply under the shortness act (sorry about my spelling, I'm typing fast)

Look. I know it sounds weird but it's happening. Are you still there?

Getting a license is a privledge not a right. The BON is charged in protecting the public right to having a competent nurse, not protecting the rights of a nurse.

What protections are in your home country? Do they allow anyone to call themselves a RN? What is their system of assuring the public, that a nurse is safe?

My country has the highest name in nursing and health sciences. The nursing school of Cuba are acredited in United States. In my case I'm not only graduated as the best of my Institute as a nurse, I was accepted in the Higher Instutute of medical school. I have a doctorate degree in Medicine too. Just to inform you.

All states have similar requirements for foreign trained nurse. Some do their own evaluation but most rely on CGFNS to do some sort of evaluation of transcripts. Some states will not recognise some training and do require experience in another state ie Excelsior PN to RN bridge.

When you go to another country you live by their laws and regulations. If you don't like it don't bother going to that country.

I would take the USMLE and practice medicine, nursing has enough whreat to be Doctors, if you a qualified to be a doctor, go that route and then

you don't have to worry about the Florida BON.

Correction: I'm not going to another country. I'm not going to New Zealand or any other place like that. I think you should read better. I'm a nurse who has a lisence from one of the USA's state. Who passed the NCLEX and is just trying to move to a different state INTO the USA.

I'm sorry guys. I'm the kind of person that try to build doors, no walls. Obviously there's too many people with no useful information and trying to get attention (at least from a forum) what a shame!
