Hi all,

I am a paramedic and RN from NH, although I have spent most of my time working in MA.

I am hoping to eventually do Flight nursing/paramedicine and am wondering what flight programs really want as far as nursing experience. I am currently working in a fairly busy city ER, but I have only been a nurse for six months. I am also a paramedic and have been one for 4 years and I was an EMT-B for 6 years.

I woudl specifically like to know what DHART, UMASS Life Flight, and Boston MedFLight look for, but also I would like to know in general. I rode a couple times with MedFlight and DHART and loved it.

If Anyone has any imput it would be greatly appreiciated. Thanks in advance.

Congratulations on your goal of being a flight RN. The reason nobody is answering is likely because we have answered this same question repeatedly. It wouldn't be a problem except there is so much info to give and each flight program is different. I would recommend looking at the human resource page for the flight program you are interested in. They will give you the specific requirements for their program. In addition please take a look at the posts in this forum as there are numerous ones addressing this same question and all have done a thorough job at describing the usual requirements. You can also check out http://www.flightweb.com as they have an entire subgroup dedicated to those people interested or just starting out in a flight program. Good luck to you!
