What's up with being a new CNA, and applying for a CNA or HHA position at a Home Health Agency, then being hired as a home companion? Could they need more companions than CNA's? Are they telling clients, "Well, even our companions are CNA's"? Why the bait and switch?
Companions are really just maids. Cook and clean and run errands. Can't even remind clients to take medicine let alone assist. No personal care. No touching. Just an onlooker. You drive clients to the doctor or the store in your own car. No assist or transfer in or out of the car. Seems a recipe for building bad habits.
Also this isn't a way to get CNA experience. You aren't working as a CNA.
I'm advising pass on this and keep looking. Take it and keep looking means any prospective employer knows you have an albatross around your kneck, poor decision making skills, or are just desperate.
Is this the right advice?

Wow! I was actually thinking about being a companion too But if its not a good way to gain experience & actually USE your skills, than I'll pass. Sorry u had to find this out the hard way, but thanks for the warning. Good luck :)
Oh my. It was a question, not advice. It may be the perfect position for you!
