Fiu

Published

Hi all..I've been lurking around for weeks now, I finally decided to join :nurse:

Anyone have any info on FIU? Is it as hard as MDC to get into for nursing? What are the actual hours that you have to be on the campus? Im trying to find a school that will hopefully let me keep my job :uhoh3:

For example, I know that in BCC a lot of the program web-based now :)

Any info would be much appreciated! :D

Im bumping my own thread

Anyone with info on FIU?

i just went to an orientation on tuesday.... and they didnt recomended to work and study.... is a full time program and it can't be p/t nor take more classes than what's set on the program to finish faster. They just accept 70 students out of all the aplicants at summer and 70 for fall....i believe they dont accept students on spring. Is based mostlly in a points sistem that they have. At their page you can find more detailed info. I just transffered from MDC to FIU. And i think that the nursing program at MDC is easier to get into. http://cnhs.fiu.edu/nursing/programs.html

I was actually considering FIU over MDC because I heard that MDC is so much harder to get into. Are you transfering in with an AA? or 30+ credits? What's your GPA?

I am also applying to BCC and Nova. I can't afford Nova lol, but I guess basically I just want to apply everywhere and see who will take me.

I have a 3.0 but, in this semester in which I am taking 7 credits, I will have a 4.0 (for the semester), overall cum GPA I am not sure how to calculate...

This semester Im enrolled in chem, chem lab, and inter algebra. Fall semester at MDC I am taking microbio, a&p I with the lab, and college algebra.

I have 50+ credits and I have mostly met my AA reqs. All I would need for an AA is nutrition, and statistics.

sorry this is so long! I have been stressed, as most of us have been

Thanks for your reply :)

and amy is youre reading this, feel free to chime in if you have any info.

thanks in advance :clown:

that is good to apply everywhere. IDK what school is easy or hard to get in to---- honest everyone has different qualities to offer in each school..... I was accepted to NOVA when MDC rejected me--- go figure, at the time I didn't apply to FIU but maybe if I would of applied they would of taken me.... who knows...

but I think it's excellent that you are applying to all the schools that you possibly can--- I did the same and it turned out great for me

I just got home from MDC medical campus. I met with an advisor who told me I should go get my medical assistant license, then apply to the bridge program lol

wow!

Im 9 credits shy now of an AA...I think I will get my AA, continue with A&P I and II, apply for medical assist program (but not at dade, its too long there) then apply to dade's bridge...anyone else going through another avenue to get into mdc's RN program?

oh NO!!!!!!! DON'T DO THAT!!! It will be such a waste of time and money to do a medical assistant--- MDC gives a hard time for LPN students for the LPN-RN program that does includes MA also---- so apply to a bunch of other schools.

I know BCC is not the best school in the world-- but people get thru it and become RN's.

I don't know how to get into the MDC program as I never was accepted-- but for sure I would suggest either going thru the LPN program then applying to RN school---- or do like me keep applying to as many schools as possible----

If you can't get into public schools than try private. It's expensive, but there are other resources such as loan forgiveness program ( pays 4,000 for 1 yr in return or the hospitals loan programs) ...http://www.nslfp.com/ or http://www.mchr.com/dynamicPage/2366/Educational-Opportunities-for-Nurses.aspx

those are some examples

Thanks for the info J.

Bumble, what school/schools did you get into?

Should I go ahead and pay the $230 for BCC's req of that health core class? I feel as if I am preparing myself for every single school- and their requirements :banghead:

I have dropped/added classes on my schedule for fall semester 3x!

Hi future rn,

i tried posting 2 or 3 times... sorry if is kinda really straight

forward. Overall GPA 3.78, Sciences 4.0.... yep A.A, Haven't done the NET, doing it 2morrow. And i haven't research much about the MDC program i've heard is really good, i've heard it more from FIU's. I liked the facilities and reputation of the school(FIU) and would like to eventually peruse my Masters there.... My nutrition teacher (Paula Polanco) told me it was a no brainier too (to go to FIU if i could). Best of Luck!!!! :wink2:

Goodness! Sorry for the multiple responses, can't take them off.:jester:
