FIU Generic BSN Fall 2013

Hello!
I just wanted to see if there is anyone applying to FIU's BSN program for Fall 2013?
I haven't seen any threads for the BSN Fall 2013, so I decided to start one so we can all share our stories and see if maybe there is someone already in the college of nursing that could give us some advice or insight on the program itself.

Hey , I applied for Fall but when I check my status online it is asking for my ACT/SAT scores. I have about 30 credits from Broward College and I graduated HS but did not take those tests. I don't understand why they would be asking me for that, clearly I am transferring from a college. Did this happen to you at all?

Well I didn't have that problem because I already have my associate in arts degree, once you have your associate degree you don't need those test scores. But I think if you have either less than 60 credits or no associate degree they still might need those scores. I would suggest for you to call FIU admissions department or visit them personally and ask them just to be on the safe side. I don't want to tell you one thing and it might be wrong. But definitely give them a call and get that sorted out. Hope this helps :)

Hello! :sarcastic: I've applied as well! Just waiting for spring grades to post so the pre-nursing adviser can recalculate the GPA's. He said we should receive a response in late May!!! Such a nerve-wracking yet exciting experience!! Have you applied to other programs?

Hey! Yea I got the email too, how exciting! I'm so anxious to find out if i got in or not. I finished my last final yesterday so I'm just waiting now for grades to post. I've applied to so many schools such as UF, FSU, USF, and FIU of course. I didn't get into FSU, but I'm waiting to find out about the other schools! I should know by early June for all of them. How about you did you apply to other schools? And how did you feel on the video essay for FIU? That video took me forever I think it came out alright I hope! Lol

Goodness! You applied to a lot of schools!! LOL. Besides FIU, I only applied to Chamberlain and NSU which I both got accepted to. If I do not get into FIU which is my first choice, I will transfer to NSU. I feel my video essay came out alright... :sorry: LOL. My video was nothing fancy, out of this world. I tried to spice it up with some music and cheesy transitions and effects and I tried to sound as natural and relaxed as I could when I was talking. Hopefully, they see that and they like it :) What were your stats like and what is your first choice school?

Congrats! At least you got accepted somewhere when I saw my rejection letter to FSU I panicked. It just makes me more anxious not knowing where I will end up. I'm undecided about which school I want to go its between UF and FIU, but I got the merit scholarship for FIU so I feel I'm leaning towards there more. My cumulative gpa is a 3.77 and my science is a 3.88, but with the grades this semester my gpa will hopefully be a little higher. How about you?

Oh and don't worry my video is cheesy too I didn't really have a good program to make it so I did the best I could with my web cam. Lol I was worried about the HESI, but the HESI was easier than the video in my opinion.

Hey guys!! I also applied!!! Im sooo nervous and cant wait to hear back :/ i have a 3.7 gpa and i got a 90 in the reading and a 98 in the math on the hesi!! Im applying as a transfer student from palm beachstate! Do you guys know anybody already in the program?

Hey!

Well, I don't really know anyone in the FIU nursing program, but I've read it's a really great program. They also have clinical's in some of the best south florida hospitals and the nursing building is pretty new! I wonder how many applicants they had this year. Your GPA is really good did you do any volunteer work?

It's officially May 1st so in a few more weeks we will find out! :) !

Ive been working at a pharmacy since december 2010! How about you? Ughhh it just has me soo stressed lol i want to know now if i got accepted or not!

That's awesome! I volunteered at a hospital and at my school so I completed 150 hours which allowed me to mention it on my application. I know how you feel I really want to know already too. Hopefully we find out soon!

Ah!!!! So happy that someone posted a thread on this!!! Lol, I have been debating for weeks whether I should create one But yes, I applied (finally!) for Fall of 2013. I'm so excited!!!!! I hope they don't delay the decision any longer...good luck to you guys!!!!:)
