Hi everyone,
Does anyone have any information regarding the Accelerated BSN at FIU? It would be a bit of a drive from me, but doable. FAU's accelerated program is my first choice, but I am curious as to what you guys can share.
Hey all!! I also recently applied to FIU's Accelerated Option BSN Program. I put in my application around the end of June.
My stats:
Bachelor of Biology from Nova Southeastern Univ
Undergrad GPA = 3.56
Pre-Req GPA = 3.78
TEAS Exam = 90.7 (99th percentile national, 98th percentile program)
I got a response email on Aug 22nd regarding next steps:
It is my pleasure to inform you that you are on the list for the next round for admission to the Accelerated Option Bachelor of Science in Nursing Program in the Nicole Wertheim College of Nursing & Health Sciences at Florida International University for the Spring Semester 2014. Your status is conditional based on successful completion of a criminal background check (Package 1) ONLY prior toSeptember 15 (see attached information sheet).Interviews will be held the first full week of October. You will receive an email after September 15 based on the criminal background check to schedule your admission interview. Admission into the program is also based on full completion of all prerequisites and TEAS exam.
In order to secure your spot you must email your response to ********** no later than September 15, 2014. This does not indicate you have been accepted to our BSN program, ONLY that you are being considered. Final notification of your status regarding our program will be communicated to you prior to the first day of classes, in November. We also request that you notify us via email if you no longer wish to be considered for admission for any reason, including acceptance to another nursing program.
In closing, we appreciate your ongoing patience with this process and we pledge to notify you as quickly as possible when, or if, your status in the program changes.
Thank you,
I did the background check, which costs $50+, on Aug 25th and got a copy of the completed report the next day. It was good, of course. So now I'm prepping for the interview in October. Hopefully I do well on the interview, because I would be extremely honored to be a part of this program!! Can't wait to start!
Anyone else out there getting ready for interviews in Oct??

Hi all,
Trying to prep for the interview but I'm not quite sure what to expect. I've noticed that not many ABSN programs conduct interviews. I'm guessing since this is a new program they want to get to know their first cohort better if accepted. Good luck to everyone!
