FIU AO BSN (fall 2020)

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hi everyone!
This site has been very helpful for me while I worked on my application, therefore, I wanted to start a thread on the applicants for FIU’s fall 2020 AO BSN program. It may be a little early right now, but I would love to speak to anyone who has applied or planning to. ?

How could they give you a weekend to make a decision? That is crazy and unfair in my opinion.

I will be turning down my spot if I get in because I am already in another nursing program but I am curious to find out

Because they need to notify others when people reject. People on Wednesday only got two days as well. There is also a lot of paperwork you have to get done and Titers, etc. classes start in a month. Two days is plenty considering most people have heard back from other programs by now ?

Has anyone’s received a rejection?

Most schools don’t “notify others when people reject.” They let all of the accepted students know at once and then create a waitlist. Also, every single school I applied to gives you at least 3 weeks to make a decision and lets you know MONTHS before the program starts what the decision is not one single month before it begins.  Lastly, 2 days is not considered plenty of time for most people who need to shell out a lot of money for nursing school and decide what to do and where to go (there is a lot of planning involved and decisions to make). Therefore, two days is not “plenty of time.”

I agree that 2 days isn't enough time especially if your out-of-state or moving and etc. Just have to make the most of it and deicide what's right.

When someone is notified they are taken off a waitlist it is almost always because another student rejected the offer. A lot of schools do this, especially for Grad degrees and programs with limited space like ours. Once the program is officially full they may send rejections.

If someone applied without having a plan on how to pay for the first semester of classes they knew would start in October, that is an issue that should have been resolved before Fall 2020 semester

I agree that is sucks and 2 days may not be the best timeline, but we have classes coming up in less than a month and orientation at the beginning of October. They need decisions to fill the limited seats. As you said “most schools” already have sent decisions, it should be a quick yes/no for most applicants. A week would have been nice but as far as I’ve seen most people had this school as the last they need to respond.

Really, FIU was the last resort for some people?

Maybe not last resort, but last to notify for many im sure. Like people who applied to UM and FIU but we’re waiting on FIU bc it’s cheaper

That is true and my option because it's in FL, and has the Accelerated BSN. Not many have it.

IDK why some people defend FIU and make excuses for this ?, they are an unorganized mess and clearly have no regard for their students. I'm going to UM whether or not fiu accept's me LOL

Exactly @Jen1007, two days is definitely not enough. We submitted their application way before UM, and they are opening earlier. These decisions should have been out a while ago.

I'm thinking the same as you, UM is really more attractive
