How many out there are first year students? What do you think of nursing school so far? Any suggestions for studying or taking tests for others?

I'm loving nursing school so far. I'm so eager to learn maybe this is because I have been trying for so long to go to nursing school. This is my 5th time getting in but my first time actually pursuing it. Long story, will not bore you here. Clinicals have been a blast so far and our instructors are finally getting to know us in class which is promising. We've lost a few from our class already and I'm sure more will be gone after our third exam next week. Some will withdraw because it is impossible for them to attain the 77% needed to pass the class.

Just want to know how everyone is liking school so far! :D

I love it! I think my class will be lossing some students awell. I am finding it difficult in the A&P portion of it. I study and study but it just doesnt seem to stay in my head. How are you doing in that class? Congrates and keep up the good work!

I'm a first year nursing student and we are 7 weeks into our semester. My class has had about 13 people drop out 75 so far. We have to maintain at least an 80% in order for us to pass. So far so good! I also love it! I swear I put in so many hours studying for every test, but it's paying off. I've found the the most helpful thing is to study some every day and take breaks. Actually remember to do something fun every once in awhile so you don't get so stressed out. Or at least, that's been working for me! Good luck to you all!

I'm in my first semester of the Nursing program at my college. We need to pass all of our science courses with at least a 76. I have been studying and studying and studying for my A&P Practical Exam tomorrow. Currently, I have a 74 average in the class so tomorrows exam will be very very important and I am freaking out. I never thought the Nursing program would be so hard. I find it worse that the teachers here really don't seem to care about their students.

I'm loving school! I already took A & P as a pre-req several years ago. I managed an A in A & P I and II. I studied often and learned the body systems literally like systems. I became an expert in each body system and grew confident from that. Good luck, A &P is hard but not as difficult as Pathophysiology!

Best of luck with your test! I know you can do it. I'm sorry to hear your having a bad experience with the teachers. Hang in there, hopefully they'll come around when they start realizing who is staying in the class and who is not. Nursing school is tough but you'll get through it!

Good luck:nurse:

CONGRATULATION TO EVERYONE WHOSE IN THE PROGRAM!!!

This is my first semester as well and I agree with everyone's point of view. Nursing school is extremely different and Fundamentals is hurting me. The critical thinking isn't clicking so well and my next exam is my do-or-die exam. A few students have dropped out as well but it's only a few due to financial situation and absence.

Geneva - I'm glad your excitement is still with you. I was so excited as well but now it's fading me. I absolutely enjoy the clinical aspect as well and labs.

Penaheather - Keep your head up and just keep reviewing the material. Try different methods of retaining the information, keep rewriting and go for assistance if needed. I had A&P 1&2 last year and loved it. I would seek extra help at the school tutoring for bones anatomy and etc.. You can do it.

Jonahyona - I'm on the same boat as you but in the Fundamentals subject. Like I mentioned earlier my upcoming exam would be my do-or-die :/ I knew nursing school was difficult but not that difficult to be even putting in a lot of hours and yet struggling (hope that makes sense.)

Best of luck to everyone!!!

Keep updated if times allow.

:)

I wish everyone the best of luck!!!

I'm loving it so far too. It took a little while but after a few days of clinical I'm having fun. My clinical instructor is awesome she terrified me at first though. two tests out of the way, nobody has dropped yet after the next test its almost impossible to recover so we may see some then. All the advise I got has helped I take time off to have fun. I ignore the annoying personalities that must be in every program. I at least skim read before each lecture. Rewrite my notes, make flashcards, I never get behind. I've learned to be flexible with my schedule. I've made friends with smart positive students. I don't do study groups but am considering one for finals. When I'm feeling overwhelmed I remember how blessed I am.

This is my 7th week and we've already lost some, too. A couple of people dropped for personal reasons and a few more didn't make it past our first dosage calculation exam (you get 2 tries to make a 90, if you don't get it, you're out right then). So far the best tip I've learned is to do all the practice questions at the end of the chapter as well as the ones on the CD ROM or website associated with the textbook.

I just got accepted into both Aiken and Augusta tech. How was your experience with Augusta Tech? Is it as bad as everyone makes it sound? How about Ms. Evans? Heard so many negatives, especially with the loss of their accreditation. Have you guys been told anything about that?

Please write back as soon as you can. Anything will help.

Thank you so much.
