Took NCLEX-PN today...

Nurses New Nurse

Published

Not sure how I am feeling about it. I am scared actually. I am not one to have test anxiety, but today I froze. I had a question on peripheral neuropathy and I don't even remember what that is...

Ok, so for the CT boards...You will get between a minimum of 85 questions and a maximum of 205. When you get the correct number of questions right..OR wrong, the program will shut down on the computer. They say if the computer shuts off at 85 it doesn't necessarily mean you passed...it could be a fail. Also our teachers had told us, the questions start off easy, then get harder..So how come the first questions for me were harder and then seemed to get a bit easier?? Also..I did not get ONE math problem. We had our wipeboard to figure out math, and I didn't need to use it since I didn't get any math.

The computer program shut down at 85. It took me 1 hr to take the test.

I am scared to death...I start a new job tomorrow. If I fail the nclex, I will have to be a CNA until I pass. This new job I used to be a CNA at..It would be so embarassing to go there for 2 days as a nurse, then discover I failed the nclex and have to be a CNA for 91 days.(Before I can retest) Not to mention, I am 24 weeks preggers. :|

The suspense is killing me. Another girl from class also went and took the test around the same time as me. She also had it shut off at 85.

Do you have any of the study books available online or at Barnes and Noble? I studied with the Incredibly Easy NCLEX-PN. it came with a CD disk with quizzes on it. Maybe you could borrow from someone in your class? This worked for me. the questions are formatted pretty much the same as the exact test. Good luck!

Well I have 3 books, have not found the incredibly...one..I am 1000 miles from all of my classmates, and sure they do not have it-I moved after graduation-anyways I have Saunders, which I do not do too well on, then Lippincotts and Chicago one..All I can do is keep practicing, I did well in school, I want to believe it is all just ANXIETY FEAR! But who knows, just feel if I knew what to expect..then I would feel better! lol Tahnks for your input!

I took mine in November, I got the minimum (85) questions, and I passed. It was really difficult but I had the feeling when I walked out of there that I passed.

I studied with Saunders, I liked it because it had the questions on one side of the page and the answers right across from it, that way I could read the question, pick the answer and read the rational. Immediate feedback worked best for me. I had other books, but I got tired of flipping back and forth for the questions and answers.

And as far as practice CD's I had several, and on those practice n-clex tests I never scored higher than 75%, I was kinda afraid I wasn't ready for it, but I was. For me it was practicing those questions, lots of them, cause after a while you almost get a feel for the right answer. No matter how much you studied in school, everyone in my class who I talked to after they took it said they never saw most of that material before.

Good luck, most people really do pass, but everyone (including myself) is sure that they won't.

congrats to those who passed and good luck to those who still have to write or who are waiting for results - I remember waiting for results and I did it the old way, on paper, 2 days long and they only did it twice a year - we had to wait 6 long weeks!!!!
